Corruption of Our Fundamental Constitutional Institutions

By: Richard H. Frank

Six months ago I wrote in a blog entitled “Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie!”, that “We the People are about to witness the demise of a nation governed under the law to a nation governed by the will of the political establishment.” There is no argument that can be made that Hillary Clinton is not guilty of committing numerous felonies in conjunction with her illegal activities when handling classified information while serving as Secretary of State. Barack Obama set the stage for his Justice Department to stonewall investigation and road block any attempt to impanel a Grand Jury to hear the growing mountain of evidence that would indict any individual other than a Clinton for committing the same offense.

Not only has Obama stated on numerous occasions that Hillary did nothing to place our national security in jeopardy but that she was the most qualified person ever to seek the office of the Presidency. Now he has taken his disdain for the rule of law one step further when he has stated undocumented voters, (illegal aliens), would not be pursued for breaking the law and voting in the 2016 election. Just another law that Obama doesn’t like that will just be ignored. How many times can a sitting President be allowed to violate his oath to uphold the Constitution and enforce the rule of law in our country?

Over the past eight years we have seen the results of Obama’s “Hope and Change.” Every metric used to measure the impact of government’s actions have been distorted and manipulated to reflect positively on the policies of our first black President and his political congressional supporters. Unemployment numbers, economic growth, job creation, and health care all have been distorted to cover the lies of Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress. Scandals within the Department of Veterans Affairs, the IRS, the FBI, the State Department and the Justice Department have all been infected by the corrupt influences brought to government by Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

It is long past the time when we need to “Drain the Swamp” within the hallowed halls of Washington D.C. The days of political expediency being substituted for our Constitution is the real issue being decided on November 8, 2016. Unless “We the People” stand up and put a swift end to corruption within our Government institutions there will be no return to the Representative Republic envisioned by our Founding Fathers. Hillary Clinton cannot be allowed to assume the Presidency if this nation is to survive.

The moment is at hand when we may retain our national anthem or substitute the theme from Bye, Bye Miss American Pie to mark the day our nation died.

Americans Deserve The Government They Vote Into Power.

Following the re-election of Barack Obama as President in 2012, I decided that the Country deserved what they voted for and that many would spend the next four years experiencing buyer’s remorse. As a result my posts to this blog have become more infrequent as I observed the media and the public in general turn a deaf ear to the scandals being perpetuated by the Obama Administration.

How ignorant or apathetic have the citizens of this great nation become when they ignore the lies perpetuated by this President and his Administration? Every prediction related to Obamacare and the devastating impact it would have on the nation when the government controls one sixth of the economy are all coming to fruition. Domestically the Veterans Administration scandal along with the IRS targeting of organizations in opposition to Obama’s policies seem to have struck a nerve with the public but are characterized by Obama as phony scandals. Not withstanding the media’s ignoring the mounting evidence of criminal activity on the part of officials in the IRS and possible complicity of the Justice Department and the White House, Eric Holder refuses to appoint a Special Prosecutor to take charge of the investigation. Obama’s answer to every crisis or scandal is to appoint a team to study the situation and make recommendations as to how they can be avoided in the future. He is always caught by surprise and his lame excuse that he was not aware of the issue has worn thin to the point of his making a fool of himself with every speech he makes when attempting to show leadership to the public.

Having been struck down by the Supreme Court numerous times for overstepping his authority when issuing Executive Orders, his response is to double down and side step the Constitution and the Congress whenever he thinks he can get away with it. Thus far he has rewritten the immigration law to allow minor children of illegals to avoid deportation sparking thousands of illegal children to cross our southern border believing they will be admitted to the United States without fear of being returned to their home country. He now threatens to take action on comprehensive immigration reform as Congress refused to take action pending securing of the border.  These actions along with rewriting of the Health care Law more than thirty times and selective enforcement of other existing laws would result in impeachment of any other President.  No where in any of his speeches deriding the Republicans does he say that his own Democrat party in the Senate, aided and abetted by Harry Reid, has stopped every single piece of legislation sent from the House by not allowing those votes to come to the Senate floor.

Obama’s foreign policy and his pension for leading from behind  have resulted in reconstituting fanatic elements of Al Qaeda  and the formation of ISAS in Syria and Iraq to the extent that the blood and treasure of this Nation over the past Decade have been wasted. Today his dithering as Commander-in-Chief has resulted in the loss of respect by our allies around the world. He can never admit that it is his policies and decisions that have led us to the turmoil we must face in the Mideast.   It is no longer a matter of if but when the next attack upon America will happen; but rest assured it will come as a complete surprise to Barack Obama and his Administration.

The only thing that has kept Barack Obama from being impeached is the historic nature of his being the first black man elected to the Presidency. His performance in office has proven that he was never qualified or equipped to be President of the United States. That said his position in history insulates him from impeachment and scrutiny for commission of high crimes and misdemeanors. As a result there is only one way “We the People” can restrain Obama from doing further damage to this nation in his quest to “Fundamentally Change America.” We must exercise our right to vote in the 2014 mid-term election and assure that Republicans retain the House of Representatives and gain sufficient seats in the Senate to control both houses in Congress.  Americans who are disgusted at the course our Country is taking cannot afford to stay home again rather than get out and vote! The balance of power must be restored in government and the Executive branch restrained in their march toward socialism if the Republic is to be preserved as intended by the Founding Fathers.

Barack Obama has succeeded in bringing the nation’s economy from the strongest producer in the world to that of a dependent  society resembling France. More people have left the work force and given up as contributors than jobs have been created in the private sector due directly to Obama’s policies on energy independence and his war against the Coal Industry in America. As energy costs continue to rise and income shrinks or remain stagnant this Administration doubles down on regulatory rules from the EPA and other agencies that are strangling investment and growth in this nations GDP.  The rising prices in food and energy are taking a terrible toll on the senior citizens and poor in the country. How long under Obama’s policies will it be before we run out of other people’s money to borrow to pay for his idea of Utopia? As we approach $20 trillion in the national debt it won’t take much before our creditors decide to foreclose on the United States of America.

Our last chance to change course for the nation rests in the decisions we make in the voting booth this coming November. Keep in mind we have no one to blame but ourselves for the government and representatives we elect. We deserve what we get.

The Conditioning of America!

By: Richard H. Frank

Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign pledge to “fundamentally change America” has been launched and implemented little by little over the past 3 1/2 years. His administration’s initiatives to achieve “fundamental change” have been marked by a three-pronged assault upon the free enterprise system and our Constitution itself. The coordinated attack starts with onerous legislative efforts, which usually fail, followed by pushing the proposed objective through executive and or administrative fiat. If either of these approaches raise the ire of Congress , or the electorate, the administration turns to the Justice Department to challenge and intimidate those that oppose their initiatives.

The liberal progressives are tenacious in pursuit of their socialist ideology. They have persisted in pushing their agenda for nearly 100 years and with the election of Barack Obama have virtually brought this nation to its knees as a result of the accumulated burden of unfunded entitlements, out of control spending and a national debt on the fast track to $20 trillion over the next four years. A debt that outstrips GDP and burdens our children for generations to come.

Achieving energy independence is a prime example of how the liberals condition the population to accept “fundamental change” and their agenda. The Obama administration stands directly in the path of the free market initiatives to develop our own natural resources through exploration and development on Federally-controlled lands and offshore paying homage to the special interests that support their agenda. New sources of fossil fuel and environmentally-safe technology for extracting these resources are demagogued as unproven and a threat to the environment. As a result the increasing demand for oil world-wide increases the price of crude and sends gasoline prices soaring along with every commodity requiring transport to the market place. The Obama administration contends that there is little they can do to impact oil prices and that lifting restrictions and increasing permits will take too long to impact the world market. This is the same story we have heard for the past 30 years when, if we had acted, we would not be faced with a looming crisis for future supply at a price dictated by supply and demand as opposed to that determined by the far east oil cartel.

Until the price of a gallon of gasoline approaches $5.00 and the electorate rebels against the government inaction and their outright obstruction to increasing domestic supply the administration resorts to short-term actions like releasing oil from the strategic reserve as a means to manipulate prices just enough to cause the price to drop just below $4.00 per gallon. In the interim the President condemns big oil for raping the public and making obscene profits when the truth is big oil makes about 8 cents for every gallon of gasoline sold while the Federal government makes 26 cents, more than three times that of the oil companies.

This shell game orchestrated by the Obama administration is intended to condition the public to accepting $3.50 per gallon as the new normal and forget that just 3 1/2 years ago we paid only $1.80 per gallon in 2009 when Obama took office. Over time just as a trainer does with his dog, the public is conditioned to gladly accept the 100% increase as a good thing.

Then we have “Obamacare” sold to America by liberals in Washington in support of the President as the panacea that would provide “affordable” health insurance to every American. For over two years Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama preached the following rhetoric until many Americans believed them.

  • If you like your current health care plan and doctor you can keep them.
  • The average family will save $2500.00 per year in premiums under Obamacare.
  • Obamacare will not increase the deficit – not by a single dime.
  • The Affordable Health Care Law mandate is Constitutional under provisions of the commerce clause.

The first three statements above have been proven to be untrue and we will soon hear from the Supreme Court if the fourth is in fact Constitutional or not.

Three and one half years after Obama and his administration assumed power the standard of living for many Americans has deteriorated. We are told that the new norm for the middle class will include limited opportunity for jobs and sustained unemployment levels of 8% or higher. Higher taxes will be required for all income levels to support expanded entitlement programs with food stamps alone growing to include in excess of  50 million families.

For those senior citizens living on a fixed income the prospect for the future appears bleak. The inflationary impact from energy prices coupled with the necessary rationing of health care under Obamacare are the first harbingers of the “fundamental” changes yet to come. The conditioning process for the elderly includes loss of equity in their homes and the value of their pensions earned over all their working years. Expendable income vanishes rapidly for this segment of American society more quickly than for any other.

The conditioning process will proceed even faster should Obama be reelected until the standard of living we experienced in the 20th century will just be a fading memory. The “fundamental Change” Obama seeks is to achieve a social democracy where we are dependant upon government for survival. Statism fosters such dependency on government for subsistence. When that dependency can no longer be supported through taxation of the free enterprise system those conditioned to rely upon the so-called entitlements eventually turn upon their benefactor, the state, and rebel. We are witness to this in Greece and many other European social democracies.

Generations yet unborn will not know how this nation was conditioned to give up freedom and self-reliance in the name of fairness and turned America into a nation of mediocrity from the vibrant , exceptional free society experienced in the past.

Those of us that have experienced the blessings of freedom embodied in our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution must stand firm against “fundamental change’ in America and return to the conservative values and principles that made America the greatest nation on the face of the earth.

Union Members No Longer Have “Freedom of Speech”

In recent news, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and AFL-CIO, among others, have announced that they will usurp approximately $100,000 from each organization and use it to fund payments to community organizing efforts of having individuals go “door to door” to encourage (intimidate) prospective voters to vote for Barack Obama.  You would think that these “volunteers” would be made up of nothing but union members, but they will use Acorn-based activists, disenchanted young people who have no goals or vision in life other than the “adoration” of President Obama, and lastly SEIU thugs, to come to your door (remember the voter intimidation at polling places by this group).  Seniors make up a very substantial group of voters not impressed with the President’s policies and and who are angered by his secular Progressive agenda and failure as a President.  Imagine your mother and father being subjected to either phone calls or a knock on the door by this group of Obamaites!

Employees in this Country for years have joined the unions because they provided them a voice within their companies, for job, wage, and benefit negotations.  Further worthwhile goals of the unions were to assure that there are no discriminatory practices in those companies in hiring practices. Union dues for members were to go for those types of activities and to support union activities benefiting all members.   All well and good.

The subject of the deterioration and aggressiveness of unions in this Country, though, is the subject of another blog as it a huge topic.  The purpose of my blog is to bring to light the devious and corrupt way that Unions have permeated the landscape of our Country and taken away the voice of the individual union member and used it to further Union Management’s political Progressive agenda.  They no longer care about their workers or they would not take away the “voice” of each individual union member and make it their own.

Take a look at the indisputable figures for yourself in http://www.usnews.com/opinion/mzuckerman/articles/2011/02/11/the-great-jobs-recession-goes-on.  Of the 8.8 million jobs lost between 2007-2009, we have only recovered 900,000 of those jobs because of seasonal, census and other temporary jobs.  Millions have left the workforce and are in the ranks of the permanently unemployed which the current monthly jobs and unemployment charts never reflect, and on average 350,000 new workers hit the streets unemployed every week.  The answer to “why” is complicated yet very simple.  We have a pro-union, pro-regulation, pro-Big Government President and Administration who, along with their Union buddies, have fought constantly against “right to work” laws being legislated in many states; have fought companies trying to negotiate concessions from unions that are bankrupting their companies, and who refuse to acknowledge that their “wages and benefits” packages, which are more than double the average non-union benefit package, cannot be sustained.  This is true especially for government unions, both Federally and in the states.

Those are the types of voices and arguments that you will hear as they knock on your door this election season.  Not ones of prosperity and a chance for all Americans to see a true recovery start in this Country through expansion and de-regulation of private enterprise, but instead, you will will hear divisive arguments for continuation of the greatest entitlement and nanny state government that we have ever had, anti-business rhetoric, and a promise to keep things as they are under Obama.

Remember the real facts as you open your door this Summer and Fall……

I have a Job – “I’m on Unemployment”

by Jayne D. Frank

The reality of the burden and consequences of Congress once again extending unemployment insurance benefits without any concurrent cuts to pay for these benefits, hit me as I encounter everyday examples of its abuses.

My husband and I were lucky to winter in Florida for a few months this year.  Our home is in a large modest neighborhood made up of  people who live and work to eek out a meager living having little or nothing in the way of assets or the “typical” middle income trappings resulting from their labors.  They do with less and they drive cars much older than the median age of cars in this country.  Since my husband and I worked and contributed for over 75 years between us in careers that demanded up to 70-80 hour work weeks, I see this segment of the Florida population, and their struggle for survival, as an example of “everything that is wrong with Obama’s policies.”

Further, I ache for the immediate implementation of Newt Gingrich’s policies which he indicated would give citizens “unemployment insurance in exchange for the participants getting training to qualify them for a real private -sector paying job.”

Yesterday, I ran into a neighbor who used to be employed full time at Wal-Mart, often working  late or long hours, and my husband and I thought his goal was to work his way into a position of  management at this company.  So dissappointed was I when we ran into him and asked “Do you still have a job?”  His answer was “Yes, I have a job – I am on unemployment!”  When asked why he was unemployed, he said he was given “warnings” by management, and eventually lost his job.  Undoubtedly he has been on unemployment for most of the past 2 years that we have not seen him.  Saying “There is nothing out there” we immediately knew that he is not pursuing any full time employment because there is no urgency in his voice and it is obvious that he is enjoying his days filled with doing nothing so long as he remains on the dole.  Later that day our postal delivery person asked me if he is still working because he obviously gets benefit checks and checks for “on-the-side-employment that he is not claiming.

Florida itself, with a 9% stated unemployment rate (probably much higher in reality) is filled with other examples of people squandering their unemployment benefits.  When I was fully employed and not retired, the only time you saw people on the street was during lunch time.  Today in Florida, it is like “lunch time” or a Saturday every day of the week with young people milling about in flea markets, gathering at eateries to chew the fat, at guns shows or festivals, or filling the bars starting at 3:30 to party and play with their friends.  These people don’t have mortgages or other fixed payments, so much of every single dime taxpayers “give” them goes into these activities with very little going to purchase food or other necessities.  Florida’s Governor was right to want to require “drug testing” for acceptance of continued benefits as drug use is also prevalent here.

When my husband and I were in our careers, finding yourself on “unemployment” was embarassing to us.  Surely if you were given a “warning” one time by an employer, you took heed of the warning and never let it happen again because of your need to keep your job.  The one time I found myself on unemployment for two months because of a headquarters move, I spent every waking hour calling, sending resumes and contacting employers in person to find something to put me back in the ranks of the employed.  There is none of that now  – no resumes, no cold-calling and very often you can go down the street and find signs in businesses yards advertising for “jobs available” or “now hiring.”  The work ethic that we grew up with just doesn’t seem to be there any longer.

Wake up Congress and Americans!  If this was an insolated case of fraud and abuse, it would be one thing, but our Country is going the way of Greece – we are broke and cannot keep governing with our hearts and forking over money to people that refuse to find employment or get retrained in our community colleges.  You have no problem telling your kids “No” or “We are broke” when they ask for candy or playthings.  Say “NO” when it really counts for the survival of our country! We are fast approaching a country of “takers” and not “makers”, and President Obama’s intended fiscal policies are feeding that entitlement thinking.

Who Do You Trust?

by Richard H. Frank

Today the Labor Department reported the unemployment rate in the U.S. dropped to 8.3% due to the creation of 240,000 jobs during the month of January.  The talking heads on television are ecstatic about this development and Obama’s policies finally resulting in job creation.  I just don’t understand the math when the same Government agency has reported over 350,000 first-time claims for unemployment each week over the same time period.  If my multiplication skills are correct, the first-time claims equal 1,400,000 job losses over the same period.  In order for the private sector to have had a net gain of 240,000 jobs in January, a total of 1,640,000 jobs would have to have been generated during the month. That rate equates to more than 19 million jobs per year outpacing the record set during the Reagan administration. Not likely!

There also seems to be some sleight of hand present when it comes to calculations for the unemployment rate.  When the trend is unfavorable to Obama politically, the base number for the workforce is adjusted downward making the percentage look better.  However, as people re-enter the workforce there appears to be no adjustment to the base again making the percentage look better, and a trend line favoring Obama’s policies.

The real measures for recovery are quite different from the Government manipulated numbers.  The economy can hardly be touted as being on the rebound when:

  • The annual growth in GDP is less than 2%.  Historical recovery growth ranges between 5 and 7% annually.
  • The annual budget deficit is running at a rate of $1 trillion/year with the debt ceiling now set at $16.2 trillion.
  • Unemployment benefits of 99 weeks are about to expire and a further extension is expected.

Even the Congressional Budget Office has a more realistic view of the recovery over the long term and is forecasting tepid growth in the GDP of around 2% per year and unemployment increasing to between 9 and 10% by 2013.

So long as the Obama Administration stubbornly clings to its anti-oil policy and anti-coal policy and pushes for redistribution of wealth in America we will see our standard of living continue to erode and see America  join Europe as a nation in decline.

Look around your community and ask yourself where the growth is and who do you know that has been hired in a good-paying  job with the prospect of long-term employment.  Ask yourself “Have my personal finances improved or am I paying more today for gasoline, energy, food and health care?”

Lastly, and more importantly, are you better off today than before the Obama presidency and what is the future prospect for your children achieving a better standard of living.

Trust yourself and not those having a political agenda and the answer will become quite clear.

Obama’s State of the Union Speech More Appropriate for February 2 (Groundhog Day)!

by Richard H. Frank

Prior to the President’s address to a joint session to Congress and the Nation on the State of the Union, I reviewed my blog following last year’s speech entitled “Reality vs. Campaign Rhetoric.”

I fear, as in the movie ‘Groundhog Day” we are destined to relive his speech over and over again until he gets it right or until the electorate gets it right and votes Obama out of office.

The true measure of the “State of the Union” is outlined in last year’s blog and if anything has changed since then, the change has been for the worse.  I expect the Obama speechwriters labored tirelessly to find some undistorted facts for him to claim as his accomplishments.  Obama lives in a different universe than does the rest of America.  Unfortunately, Congress shares much of that same universe as Obama and is willing to accept the myths he spreads as accomplishments.  Half truths are obvious throughout his 65-minute performance to convince America that he deserves 4 more years as President.  Consider these statements compared to the facts:

  • Three million jobs have been created over the past 22 months.  According to the Administration’s own labor statistics, 1.7 million jobs have been lost over the same period since he was sworn into office.
  • His Administration saved the auto industry and GM is once again the world’s #1 producer of automobiles.  The truth remains that last year GM sold an estimated 9 million vehicles worldwide, a number that includes sales of manufacturers in which GM holds minority investments such as in China.  Volkswagan and Toyoto would be the first to challenge Obama’s claim as holding the sales title should their numbers include figures from Scania and truck makers like Man.  As for Toyota, their 2011 sales haven’t been reported for the full year and their estimate is that sales will be down by 7.9 million units as a result of the natural disasters and tsunami experienced in Japan and Thailand.  Should  Toyoto include Wuling sales they will outperform the new GM. As with the employment figures in the U.S., if the numbers don’t support your position, just change the base until they do.
  • “What’s happening in  Detroit can happen elsewhere!”  May God forbid this will come to pass.  Detroit has been transformed into a ghetto as the result of liberal, Progressive, Democrat Government over four decades.  This once proud city with a population making it the 4th largest in the nation in the past has degraded into a wasteland and now occupies 18th position in the nation.  The intercity population has fallen to under 800,000 and is surrounded by decay and a failing infrastructure, and vacant buildings and home line the city’s neighborhoods and provide a magnet for crime.  This area has a 28% unemployment rate under Obama.  Once known as the “Motor City” and the “Capital of Democracy”, it acquired the title of “Murder City” in the 1980s and has continued its rapid degradation since then.  If Detroit provides Obama’s vision for this nation, something is radically wrong with our President’s vision.
  • “Oil production in  America is the highest it has been in 8 years.”  I recall reading an article indicating this increase amounts to less than 2 million barrels a day.   The existing capacity to produce is somewhere between 10 to 20 million barrels per day if it were not for the onerous Government Regulations stifling production.

His statement that he has directed Defense Secretary Leon Panetta to purchase eco biofuel for the Navy once again provides a subsidy to an industry that cannot compete in the free market environment.  Official estimates are that this biodiesel will cost the American taxpayers up to 38% more than diesel fuel derived from crude oil.

Since our President has virtually no record of accomplishment to base his campaign for reelection upon, he must resort to tactics that attack Congress, demonize his Republican opponents and avoid at all costs a debate on “Obamacare.”

His tactics were evident with his every utterance last night:

  • His subtle accusation that Congress is not doings its job in comparison to our military completing its mission in Iraq and Afghanistan shifts the blame to others for his lack of leadership.
  • Stating that every American must do and pay their fair share and play by the same rules is pure class warfare and anti-capitalism.
  • His statement that over the past decade, the rich have benefitted and the poor have suffered due to a tax structure having rates that favor the rich is a distortion of the truth and blatantly false.  An individual having $1 million earnings from investment pays tax at a rate of 15% or $150,000 on those capital gains.  This is over and above the original 25-36% they paid on their investment when taxed as wages.  That amounted to between $250,000 and  $360,000 paid in taxes on those investment dollars.  When Obama compares the total $400,000 to $510,000 paid n investment income to Warren Buffet’s secretary paying 28% on $50,000 income, or $5600, the distortion becomes ridiculous and not worthy of our President.
  • Following his pledge to open 75% of Federal lands and offshore regions for energy production, he qualified the promise by stating he would not walk away from his promise of clean energy and development fo safe energy.  He avoided any mention of the Keystone XL pipeline in his remarks and took refuge behind the “BP horizon” incident in the Gulf of Mexico.
  • In one breath he advocated smaller Government and less regulation when in the next he advocated appointment by executive fiat three new agencies composed of a “trade enforcement unit,” “executive order to remove red tape for infrastructure projects ” and creation of a special unit in the Justice Department to investigate financial crime, sounds  like growing the Government and more regulation to me.
  • His call for “comprehensive immigration reform” came against a statement that our southern borders are safer and more secure than ever.  A claim heavily disputed by Arizona, Texas and New Mexico.  Although not mentioned by name, his proposed reform smacked with elements of the “Dream Act” or amnesty for the children of illegals presently here in America.

The only positive to be found following the President’s address was the focus groups composed of Republicans, Democrats and Independents are no longer swallowing Obama’s rhetoric.

During the 2010 mid-term election “We the People” made our voices heard loud and clear.  Returning to the principles embodied in the Declaration of Independence and the limits of government defined in our Constitution is imperative in this Republic is to survive while individual freedom to prosper is the opportunity provided for every American.

When two-thirds of Americans believe this country is on the “wrong course” under the Obama Administration, it is their duty in the upcoming 2012 election to change course by removing that Administration and replace it with individuals dedicated to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.
