Whatever Happened to “One Nation Under God” ?

By: Richard H. Frank

Something has changed radically in the “United States of America” that my brothers and I grew up in and served in our military to protect. Politically there seems to be no respect for the positions taken by opposing parties and the principles upon which this nation was founded. Instead we are living in an age where demands are made to strip our history of anything viewed as racist or objectionable to some particular minority or class of individuals in the country. Freedom of speech is somehow being turned upon its head and becoming freedom from speech. Respect for the very institutions that made this nation great is undermined by anarchists and supported by many members of the elite media. No longer are ideologies vastly different between only the North and the South, but are now between the East and West Coasts, leaving the vast center of the nation isolated in pursuit of the prosperity they are equally entitled to under our Constitution.

Viewing America from the outside an observer would think the country has evolved into two separate nations neither of which is sovereign unto itself, nor has definable borders that may be defended. These are the makings for a bloody civil uprising that will eventually pit Constitutionalists against anarchists and a failing of the rule of law in America. Those of us old enough to remember Nikita Khrushchev’s prediction in the 1960’s that “America would be destroyed from within” may live to see that day is at hand.

Then there is “Social Media” the product of the digital age we live within. Designed as a communication tool with which people could communicate and find common ground to foster friendships and understanding between the races and other nations, Facebook and Twitter have become the digital mega-voice for everyone with an opinion to vent their feelings. No matter how constructive theses social communication tools were envisioned to be there are those that choose to abuse and subvert their intended use. Take for instance the unsubstantiated sexual abuse charges against dozens of celebrities, media personalities and politicians causing them to lose their careers without being able to face their accusers and without a day in court. So much for innocent until proven guilty. Tweeting anonymously has become the art of slandering another person without the fear of repercussion. Somewhere along the way we have lost our moral compass not to mention any religious doctrine “to do unto others as we would have them do unto us”.

Unfortunately, for those of us that remember a much different America we are placed in a category of those that will not accept change according to Barack Obama’s saying that we “cling to our guns and bibles” as opposed to relinquishing our hard-fought for freedoms. The liberal progressives would surrender to the Orwellian vision of having “Big Brother” cater to our every need. Big Brother being the all-powerful Federal Government. Today we find ourselves trapped halfway between a rock and a hard spot with the Federal Government controlling the livelihood of over 61 million senior citizens dependent upon Social Security and Medicare for our existence and health care. The political elites in Washington D.C.leverage their bargaining position to achieve power using seniors as pawns in their game of political chess. Threatening a government shutdown is the favorite ploy of both political parties in order to achieve some politically expedient objective. They would risk withholding entitlement payments to 17% of the population to get what they want. The more government controls the individual the better the liberal progressives like it and their march for Big Brother and total domination. Draining the swamp in Washington D. C. is just the beginning of what the founders envisioned for our nation. The slippery slope of issuing executive orders in lieu of legislation created in congress and signed into law by the President moves one step closer to Big Brother having total disregard for the Constitution of the United States of America.

If the Chief Executive (the President) doesn’t like the constraints the Constitution places upon the government, then he should champion an amendment to the Constitution and refrain from legislating through issuance of Executive Orders. Thank God we have term limits on the Office of the President. Any single Presidential term would more than likely expire before amending the Constitution in most cases could be accomplished.

As for “One Nation Under God” I fear that the liberal progressive creation of “separation of Church and State,” never mentioned in the Constitution, may in fact have become a defacto construct in law. The acknowledgement of God in the public square or any petition to the deity in our schools is now viewed as a cardinal sin against the state. Given time and the direction of our courts it will not be long before the mention of God will be stricken from the very documents upon which this great nation was founded. I can only hope for posterity that I am wrong.

I wonder how future generations will honor this country should it no longer be required to recite the “Pledge of Allegiance” or, to stand while singing “The National Anethum”? Maybe the pledge and song will be as depicted in Orwell’s 1984 to Big Brother.

The Stampede to Socialism in America!

by Richard H. Frank

As 2014 begins every American needs to look back at what has occurred in this Country over the past 5 years under Barack Obama’s Presidency and his Administration. Never in my lifetime have I witnessed a more inept, incompetent and corrupt Administration aided by those in Congress hell-bent on the destruction of the very fabric upon which this Republic was founded, Our Constitution!

We have a President who has no qualms about looking Americans directly in the eye and lying to them over and over again. When the facts do not support his assertions and agenda he and his Administration just change the facts thinking the more they expound on fallacious information eventually we stupid Americans will believe the rhetoric.

How slow are Americans in realizing what is taking place before our very eyes? From stimulus spending and non-existent shovel-ready jobs, to failed green energy programs, to the spring of recovery in 2009, to Benghazi being the result of a video and on and on again. Yet in the upcoming State of the Union Address our majestic President will be sure to take credit for equally unreal achievements such as the bogus decline in unemployment and the surge in American energy production and exports and of course his signature accomplishment “The Affordable Care Act” aka “Obamacare.” Thus far every promise he has made concerning healthcare is either being proven untrue or at best exaggerated.

Then we have Congress, the People’s voice and representative to bring checks and balances against an oppressive Executive Branch of Government. The voice of the People has been muted through Congress supporting the Socialist’s agenda of Obama and his Administration by extension of entitlement spending unabated.

Today we have unemployment benefits extended for up to 99 weeks, food stamp programs increased by over 70%, health care costs now forecast to be three times that projected when the ACA was originally passed and welfare programs expanded to illegal aliens at unprecedented rates. All of these programs are being paid for with money this Country and the Obama Administration doesn’t have. Instead we just borrow the money and pass the soon to be $18 trillion debt on to our children and grandchildren.

The Rule of Law has been substituted by the rule through Executive decree or administrative regulations issued by unelected bureaucrats in various agencies of the Federal Government; i.e., the Department of Labor, the Environmental Protection Agency, Homeland Security, the National Security Agency and the Department of Justice. Many of these regulations are aimed at suppression of the free enterprise system and usurping the very freedoms conferred upon each of us under the Bill of Rights.

President Ronald Reagan warned that the first step toward destruction of the Republic would be a move towards socialized medicine. Obamacare is that first step and must be repealed before the roots of socialism take root and like an invasive vine choke the life from our Nation.

In the 1960s Nikita Khrushchev warned that America could not be destroyed by any attack from abroad but would eventually be destroyed from within. Now some 5 years later those of us old enough to remember his words bear witness to “the stampede to Socialism.” Unless “We the People” intervene and change the representation we elect to Congress the Liberal Progressives will assure the eventual “transformation of America” to a European social democracy as has been publicly declared by Barack Obama.

The Declaration of Independence holds the answer as to how “We the People” can prevent this oppressive Government from subverting our Constitution and freedom. Take heed America!

Obama’s Imperial Presidency – Making Congress and the Courts Irrelevant

by Richard H. Frank

Over the past 3-1/2 years Americans have witnessed the plan of Barack Obama to “fundamentally change America” from the Representative Republic envisioned by the Founders into a European Socialist democracy.  The tactics used by the Obama Administration have been predicted and documented by numerous authors and thus should not be a surprise to anyone who believes in the Constitution and the rule of law in the United States.

President Obama stated that the Constitution is a “flawed document” and despite his solemn oath to uphold the tenants embodied within it has trampled it and the law whenever it suited his agenda to achieve “fundamental change” in America.

This blog and countless others have chronicled his illegal abuse of executive power and called upon Congress to challenge the usurpation of power never intended for the Executive Branch of Government nor the President to possess.

The following is an article about Obama’s second term transformation by Steve McCann in the American Thinker which captures the essence of Obama’s quest to achieve the Imperial Presidency:

http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/05/obamas_second_term_transformation_plans.html

Since Congress has failed to challenge Obama’s abuses of power and  his absolute disregard for the Judiciary, it remains for “We the People” to remove him from office in November and return the Republic to the vision of the Founding Fathers and thus preserve our personal freedom.

The Conditioning of America!

By: Richard H. Frank

Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign pledge to “fundamentally change America” has been launched and implemented little by little over the past 3 1/2 years. His administration’s initiatives to achieve “fundamental change” have been marked by a three-pronged assault upon the free enterprise system and our Constitution itself. The coordinated attack starts with onerous legislative efforts, which usually fail, followed by pushing the proposed objective through executive and or administrative fiat. If either of these approaches raise the ire of Congress , or the electorate, the administration turns to the Justice Department to challenge and intimidate those that oppose their initiatives.

The liberal progressives are tenacious in pursuit of their socialist ideology. They have persisted in pushing their agenda for nearly 100 years and with the election of Barack Obama have virtually brought this nation to its knees as a result of the accumulated burden of unfunded entitlements, out of control spending and a national debt on the fast track to $20 trillion over the next four years. A debt that outstrips GDP and burdens our children for generations to come.

Achieving energy independence is a prime example of how the liberals condition the population to accept “fundamental change” and their agenda. The Obama administration stands directly in the path of the free market initiatives to develop our own natural resources through exploration and development on Federally-controlled lands and offshore paying homage to the special interests that support their agenda. New sources of fossil fuel and environmentally-safe technology for extracting these resources are demagogued as unproven and a threat to the environment. As a result the increasing demand for oil world-wide increases the price of crude and sends gasoline prices soaring along with every commodity requiring transport to the market place. The Obama administration contends that there is little they can do to impact oil prices and that lifting restrictions and increasing permits will take too long to impact the world market. This is the same story we have heard for the past 30 years when, if we had acted, we would not be faced with a looming crisis for future supply at a price dictated by supply and demand as opposed to that determined by the far east oil cartel.

Until the price of a gallon of gasoline approaches $5.00 and the electorate rebels against the government inaction and their outright obstruction to increasing domestic supply the administration resorts to short-term actions like releasing oil from the strategic reserve as a means to manipulate prices just enough to cause the price to drop just below $4.00 per gallon. In the interim the President condemns big oil for raping the public and making obscene profits when the truth is big oil makes about 8 cents for every gallon of gasoline sold while the Federal government makes 26 cents, more than three times that of the oil companies.

This shell game orchestrated by the Obama administration is intended to condition the public to accepting $3.50 per gallon as the new normal and forget that just 3 1/2 years ago we paid only $1.80 per gallon in 2009 when Obama took office. Over time just as a trainer does with his dog, the public is conditioned to gladly accept the 100% increase as a good thing.

Then we have “Obamacare” sold to America by liberals in Washington in support of the President as the panacea that would provide “affordable” health insurance to every American. For over two years Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama preached the following rhetoric until many Americans believed them.

  • If you like your current health care plan and doctor you can keep them.
  • The average family will save $2500.00 per year in premiums under Obamacare.
  • Obamacare will not increase the deficit – not by a single dime.
  • The Affordable Health Care Law mandate is Constitutional under provisions of the commerce clause.

The first three statements above have been proven to be untrue and we will soon hear from the Supreme Court if the fourth is in fact Constitutional or not.

Three and one half years after Obama and his administration assumed power the standard of living for many Americans has deteriorated. We are told that the new norm for the middle class will include limited opportunity for jobs and sustained unemployment levels of 8% or higher. Higher taxes will be required for all income levels to support expanded entitlement programs with food stamps alone growing to include in excess of  50 million families.

For those senior citizens living on a fixed income the prospect for the future appears bleak. The inflationary impact from energy prices coupled with the necessary rationing of health care under Obamacare are the first harbingers of the “fundamental” changes yet to come. The conditioning process for the elderly includes loss of equity in their homes and the value of their pensions earned over all their working years. Expendable income vanishes rapidly for this segment of American society more quickly than for any other.

The conditioning process will proceed even faster should Obama be reelected until the standard of living we experienced in the 20th century will just be a fading memory. The “fundamental Change” Obama seeks is to achieve a social democracy where we are dependant upon government for survival. Statism fosters such dependency on government for subsistence. When that dependency can no longer be supported through taxation of the free enterprise system those conditioned to rely upon the so-called entitlements eventually turn upon their benefactor, the state, and rebel. We are witness to this in Greece and many other European social democracies.

Generations yet unborn will not know how this nation was conditioned to give up freedom and self-reliance in the name of fairness and turned America into a nation of mediocrity from the vibrant , exceptional free society experienced in the past.

Those of us that have experienced the blessings of freedom embodied in our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution must stand firm against “fundamental change’ in America and return to the conservative values and principles that made America the greatest nation on the face of the earth.

We Are Now What We Were Then!

by Jayne D. Frank

I have spent the last several months researching my family genealogy and it has been gruesome, exciting and a pain-staking effort.  I started this effort to find more about my elusive dad but ended up intrigued about my mother’s side of the family.  The result is that I have learned more in these few months than a lifetime of having questioned my parents and the life lessons learned are priceless.

What we are going through today in 2012, I have learned, as a middle class, is not much different than my grandparents went through.  In the 1800s they were both peasants in the fields of richer landlords and owners in Austria-Hungary, Vysoka and Dacov to be exact.  They had no choice but to be farmers as there were no opportunities for advancement and putting food on the table for their families.  Adding this to the political strife these people were feeling, they yearned for the American Dream – prospects for a better life, of earning your own way and more importantly achieving personal liberty for themselves.

My grandfather and grandmother made their way to America in 1900 in cramped, unsanitary quarters for many days and some of those sharing their Dream never made it. All of my people of Slovakian ethnicity found jobs immediately, but because they were Slovakian, had to settle for the lowest-paying  jobs in the mines and railroads, often working 7 days a week for 14-16 hours a day, and of course their wages were not the same as other immigrants.  The single women who immigrated from this region were able to get work as servants or maids only. When they married, they most often did not work outside of the home or else ran boarding houses for others like them.   My grandparents slaved for some 60 some years in often low-paying jobs, but still they put food on the table for all 11 of their children without Government handouts.  Eventually they owned their own home, and were able to do their own farming, a reality that would never have been had they stayed in Czechoslovakia as it was later called after the War. Additionally, they unquestionably were able to have the religious freedom they would not have had in Europe, to worship when and how they wanted.   To them, the American Dream had been achieved.  They provided an opportunity for their children and grandchildren to do better, to prosper, and to “never go back” to the subservience they had experienced in their early years.

Indeed, my parent’s generation did do much better.  They started businesses, attended college and many became professionals, both male and female.  Even though they went through the depression, real life lessons were learned of thrift, of saving, of planning for retirement.  And in large majorities, they did not plan on and did not rely on the Government as taught to them by their parents’ generation.

Now we come to my generation.  We worked hard all our lives and prospered, providing many more opportunities for our children to choose the life they wanted to lead, continually blessed with the personal and economic liberty in America so hard-fought for by their ancestors.   We worked just as hard as our previous generations, trying to save, taking care of all of  our own needs, and instilling those morals in our children.

That is where the American Dream ends!  The secular Progressives in this Country and abroad have been planning and scheming for years on how to fundamentally change America into their vision.  One of economic equality for all (no matter how low that equally would push people), having no public acknowledgement or worship of God permitted, and having all Americans rely on the Government for their subsistence.   And how these Progressives have accomplished many of their goals! The younger generation in overwhelming numbers no longer sees the needs to acknowledge  any “god,” record millions of people have no prospects of an economic future of prosperity and freedom, and even more millions are permanently dependent on the government to put food on the table and obtain an education.  Workers in America that are doing well by their own hard work are encouraged, if not forced by excessive taxation and regulation by the Government, to give up their earnings for redistribution for the “good of all.” And my generation has seen any accumulated retirement wealth in the form of investments and home equity  virtually eliminated as a result of Government intervention and regulation.

If my grandparents were alive today, they would be turning in their graves!  How hard they fought to flee from the political and economic oppression of Europe and how much they gave up to see future generations not have to be faced with the same glum prospects for their futures.

We are Now What We Were Then!

Distortion of Reality

by Richard H. Frank

Over the past nine months the American public has been force-fed a steady diet of political rhetoric as we  rapidly approach the 2012 General Election.  Cable news and networks desperate to fill 24 hours of broadcast air time call upon a never-ending legion of pundits to predict the outcome of votes in the primary election race to pick candidates for the respective political parties.  Should you believe the pundits, the process would be all over with the results from Iowa and New Hampshire.  The reality is that these votes and caucus results choose less than 2% of he delegates needed to establish a candidate.

Today, the talking heads are quick to state that no candidate for the Republican nomination has caught fire with the electorate and assumed a commanding lead to secure the nomination.  Somehow, they have lost perspective that eight individuals were seeking the nomination as recently as last week.  Under these circumstances simple math would indicate that any candidate receiving 12.5% of the vote or more should be considered a serious contender.

The news media however, with their liberal bias has skewed the debates away from addressing the issues facing our nation and purposely structured their questions to foster attacks by one nominee upon the other.  The underlying purpose of their distortions is to tilt the momentum away from whomever the Republican nominee eventually emerges toward the re-election of Barack Obama.  Their bias is plain to see, not only in questioning of candidates during the debates but in the post-debate analysis by carefully selected pundits.

Fortunately, for Republicans and independents, the field of prospective candidates for the Republican nomination will be pared down significantly following the Florida primary.  That is when media distortion and bias will be evident for all to see, especially as they “position” each GOP frontrunner as wanting to kill the benefits given to senior citizens, a huge voting block of that state. If you think the primary race has been ugly, just wait until a Republican candidate has to go up against Barack Obama.

The media distortions will kick into high gear as the media places Obama on a pedestal for his “achievements” in foreign policy, his leadership as Commander-in-Chief and his accomplishments in fostering economic recovery, all of which are distortions of reality.  One only needs to look around to know the truth about Obama’s socialist policies.  Unemployment and under-employment about 25%, foreclosures accelerating at a rate to reach 6 million or more, 47 million American families receiving food stamps; inflation creeping upward to decimate our middle-income families and senior citizens, and  a national debt of 16 trillion.

These are the realities given to us by Barack Obama and his administration.  I for one do not believe this Nation and our Republic can withstand four more years of Barack Obama and his administration’s policies.

Keep these realities in front of you as you endure the continuing media onslaught of distortions over the coming eleven months  before the November, 2012 General Election.

Time For Obama’s Actions to Reflect his Words!

By: Richard H. Frank

Barack Obama’s address to the White House press corps this morning concerning the release of his birth certificate, which was a distraction (his words) to his efforts to solve America’s problems, puts him on the spot to seriously solve the nations economic ills.

So now Mister President let’s get serious (again your words) and take the initiative to address the following National issues:

  • Adopt a cohesive, comprehensive energy policy that takes the initiative against the Mideast oil cartels to manipulate oil prices. Lift the moratorium against exploration and drilling in the U.S., and issue permits currently held up in bureaucratic agencies immediately.
  • Stop vilifying any individual, political party or private organization that takes issue with your agenda. Demonizing  the Oil, Gas and Coal industries, and calling political opponents like Donald Trump a sideshow carnival barker in lieu of a debate of the issues is less than presidential.
  • Adopt a budget plan, or legislation, that assures fiscal responsibility for the future national budgets including addressing entitlements, tax reform and deficit spending.
  • Stop the use of and repeal executive orders that circumvent Congress and are not authorized under the Constitution that impose onerous regulations on “We the People” in support of any political ideology.
  • Restore the Constitutional authority guaranteed to every State under the 10th Amendment to the Constitution and limit the size and scope of the Federal Government to those powers enumerated in the Constitution.
Mr. President, these are the issues affecting the very existence of our Republic and the well-being of every American. You are now on record again as of 9:45 am, April 27, 2011 to address the above issues and get serious about their solutions.
Once again America has heard his rhetoric, but we won’t hold our breath waiting for leadership to come from our neophyte President, Barack Obama. After all he is above such detailed analysis and solutions and will just delegate the problems to one of his Czars to come up with some progressive, Marxist pipe dream to tax our way out of these problems  and  the next crisis.
