Obama’s Agends is America’s Tsunami!

By: Richard H. Frank

Over the past four years, beginning with the Presidential Campaign for the 2008 election we have listened to both political parties proclaim that the economy and job creation was the number one priority for their administration should they be elected. The American public was forced to listen to the hollow promises of “Hope and Change” that would fundamentally change America and the world should Obama’s liberal progressive agenda be adopted. Since that time (2009) what have we endured as a nation?

  • Average retail price of gasoline has increased 100% from $1.83 in 2009 to $3.66 today.
  • Crude Oil price/barrel increased 135% and we still lack a cohesive energy policy.
  • Unemployment rate continues to hover between 9 and 10% even with the government’s alteration in the method for calculating the number.
  • Number of food stamp recipients increased by 22% and rising.
  • Number of long term underemployed 146.2% increase.
  • Government’s solution to spend our way to recovery has increased the national debt by 32.2% to reach $14.0 trillion.
  • Over 6 million homes currently in foreclosure in spite or TARP monies given to the banks to implement mortgage loan modification programs.
  • Our health care industry costs continuing the upward spiral out of control due to the liberal progressives ramming the unpopular legislation dubbed “Obama care” down the throats of Americans over their overwhelming objections.

The travesty to all of these situations is that they are the result of our Federal Government overstepping the enumerated powers defined in our Constitution. The first 5 items listed above could be immediately impacted and reversed if the Federal Government and its agencies would get out of the way of the free enterprise system and develop a comprehensive energy policy for America that does not change with every congressional and presidential election. Energy independence for America will result in establishing a free market price for oil and not that controlled by Mideast cartels.

The $816 billion that was spent on stimulus by the Administration and the 111th Congress accomplished just one thing. That was to create a 2% increase in government sector jobs; jobs which must be paid for with the sweat of those Americans working in the private sector.

Today, the announcement was made that the housing market reached its lowest level in the past 9 years. The resulting loss in equity to those seniors that have invested in their homes while raising their families in order to provide for a return after retirement find themselves facing a future without an equity nest-egg with which to supplement retirement and in many cases foreclosure as the banks refuse to respond to their request for loan modifications.

Lastly, we now are finding out what is in the “Affordable Health Care Law” forced upon every American as part of the “Hope and Change” agenda of this administration. Each and every argument set forth in opposition to this law is now proving to be true. Twenty-six states are suing the Federal Government for the law either being unconstitutional or for its violation of the 10th Amendment provision upholding States sovergnity.

The mid-term elections of 2010 expressed the will of the people against continued uncontrolled spending and limiting the size of the Federal Government. Yet, just four short months following that election, Congress and the President, act as though the election never took place and are conducting business as usual.  There are 31% of Americans that approve of the Presidents management of our economy. The remaining 69% are tired of his unending platitudes and proclamations that jobs and the economy are his number one priority and that we must stop spending when he continues to proceed without a budget for 2011 and has the nerve to present a $3.7 trillion proposal to Congress for 2012 that contains an additional $1.6 trillion deficit.

If stupidity, or doubletalk, could be considered a high crime or misdemeanor we would have cause to remove this unqualified novice from office. Unfortunately, we must rely upon the 112th Congress to keep him in check.  Many will say that we are destined for gridlock as long as Harry Reid sets the agenda in the Senate. I would gladly endure the next two years of gridlock until we can replaced Obama, Reid, Pelosi and RINOs who refuse to take the hard decisions to address the budget and unsustainable entitlements that have bankrupted this once great nation, and elect men of principle to put America on a course to true recovery.

Kabuki Theater in the House of Representatives!

by Richard H. Frank

Thursday December 2, 2010 once again showed why the 111th Congress will go down as possibly having the lowest approval rating in the history of our Republic.  Less than 24 hours following a meeting between the incoming leadership of the 112th Congress and President Obama where a photo-op of bipartisanship took place, Nancy Pelosi reverted to manipulating House rules to pass a tax increase for 2011 under the guise of extending current rates for those earning $250,000 or less, knowing full well that it had no chance of passing in the Senate.

After spending the majority of the day’s session to pass a bill that will undoubtedly be stopped in the Senate, the remainder of the session was devoted to the Censure proceedings against New York Representative  Charlie Rangel.

The process could be compared to Japanese Kabuki theater with the Ethics Committee presenting a summary of the charges against Rangel and their findings and recommendations to the House for Censure.

The next hour, we heard Rangel and his supporters make a weak case that mistakes were made but that Censure was too extreme a punishment for the offenses proven, relying on the sympathy of people remembering that 60 years ago he fought in the Korean War as many of other Americans watching this debacle have done.  All these pleas were followed by voting on an Amendment to the Resolution to allow for a Reprimand in lieu of Censure, a more appropriate punishment fitting the offense.

Two things were very evident insofar as Rangel’s remarks were concerned.  First was the lack of sincerity and conviction contained in his admission to having made mistakes (his interpretation of breaking the law).  Next the same air of arrogance he displayed the day he walked out of  his Hearing with the Committee was evident in his demeanor again today.

The only real surprises came in the final voting results by the House membership on the Amendments to reduce the penalty to a Reprimand and the final vote for Censure.  Either the House members suddenly had a good dose of conscience or Charlie received payback for  his past deeds from his contemporaries.

The  vote for Reprimand went down in flames while the final vote to Censure was adopted by over 330 members.  The finale to this soap opera came as Nancy Pelosi hurriedly read the Censure and penalty consisting of paying all taxes owing.  The entire process could not even be compared to a slap on the wrist but constituted something much less in my opinion.

Rangel’s statement that “This isn’t the worst day in my life” certainly was not an understatement.  If he was embarrassed, it didn’t show in his demeanor.  For Charlie it was just another day on the Hill wherein he was the center of attention.  Rangel is the quintessential example of someone who has been in Government too long.  He considers himself among the elite Washington Insiders who is far above those he was elected to represent.

So as far as the 111th Congress is concerned today was just another day at work, with nothing accomplished. I guess we will just have to keep close tabs on the 112th Congress and hold them accountable for their actions or lack thereof in 2012.

Governing in a State of Denial or Just Arrogance?

by Richard H. Frank

This week marks the beginning of the end for the reign of the infamous 111th Congress of the United States of America.  As they enter into their lame duck session, resulting from the massive “shellacking” to the Democrat majority in the 2010 mid-term elections, we can only pray that they understand the message sent by the American voters.

Unfortunately, the Democrat leadership either remains in denial of the results or is just stubbornly arrogant and refuses to accept the reason for their historic defeat.  Simply stated, the American people reject the socialist ideology and agenda put forth by Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama.  Moreover, they refused to listen when their constituents raised objections to the methods by which they governed and imposed onerous legislation upon every American.

Now that “We the People” have sent the message,  what sort of change may we expect to see during the ongoing lame duck session?  Don’t hold your breath.  In the House of Representatives, moves are afoot to push for passage of such unpopular legislation such as “The Dream Act,” energy policy reform and blocking extension of the Bush tax cuts for all Americans.  The latter may easily be accomplished through gridlock and  having those rates expire on December 31, 2010 under the existing legislation.

The political games continue under the gavel of Nancy Pelosi wherein she will seek and ultimately secure her position of leadership for the minority in the 112th House of Representatives.  She and Harry Reid have picked up on Obama’s mantra that Democrats did a poor job of communicating to the American people their message and are taking steps to correct this during the 112th Congress. Reid has created a new position of leadership in the Senate for NY Senator Schumer overseeing communications for the majority.  Likewise, Pelosi has created a yet untitled position for Representative Clyborn which yanks him off the #2 position he earned, and this “newly created” position is only given to appease the black caucus and assure  her controlling the minority house leadership.  All this maneuvering for power with little effort to addressing the business of the people.

If you don’t think arrogance still is prevalent among the Democrats, look at Charles Rangel’s guilty conviction from the Senate Ethics committee yesterday.  For two years, Mr. Rangel knew these charges had been brought; for two years he had time to hire lawyers to represent him before the Committee and craft a defense.  And what does Mr.  Rangel do?  He storms out of the Ethics Committee that he fought to appear before in order to clear his name, saying he wasn’t prepared. Even in the face of being found guilty, he alleges that he did nothing wrong.  Mr. Rangel, Americans are taking names, watching Congress, watching their votes and their actions, and we will not forget when it comes time to pass legislation or elect new Congressmen or a new President the next time around. Please be assured that the American people who worked so hard during these past mid-term elections to get people like you out of office and stop the Democratic-socialist agenda, will still work hard to Take America Back and we will not go quietly into the night….

Why Americans MUST change this Abusive Government!

by Richard H. Frank

In the period between February 25 and March 21, 2010, America witnessed Government at its worst.  The Presidential health care dog and pony show, touted by Obama supporters as his attempt for bi-partisanship and transparency, was a sham in that none of the Republican initiatives are included in the reconciliation bill language.  Because of public outrage against the Democrats’ attempt to pass the bill without a vote, or the “Slaughter deem and pass” process, Nancy Pelosi was forced to resort to bribes and pressure tactics in order to secure the votes to pass the bill.

Bart Stupak and his pro-life Democrat Caucus caved to pressure of the Party and now contends that a promised “Executive Order” has set their fears to rest.  If you had the intestinal fortitude to watch C-Span on Sunday, the lies concerning insurance premium cost reductions, job creation and deficit reduction were glaringly apparent.

Paul Ryan’s presentation of the real costs of Obamacare were completely ignored during the debate since the Democrats could not refute his analysis.  With each passing day the public will become acutely aware of the special deals cut by the Obama White House and the pharmaceutical companies, the unions and specific states in order to obtain their endorsement.  Drug companies are protected against their brand name products from having to compete with generic products.  The importation of drugs from outside the United States is also banned unless they are registered with our health care bureaucrats. Costs to the consumer must rise as competition has been virtually eliminated by this Bill.

The CBO has once again been co-opted into presenting an analysis based on false assumptions.  Even the CBO has attempted to couch their analysis as being “preliminary” and wholly dependent upon Medicare cuts, double counting some revenue streams and/or spending the same dollar twice and an unlikely growth in GDP based on today’s economic conditions in America.

The real travesty was eloquently summed up by the House Minority Leader John Boehner when he stated that the House of Representatives had betrayed their constituents.  The process being used to orchestrate the outcome desired by the White House brought shame on the institution of “The House of Representatives.”

The integrity of our elected representatives in Congress has been put to the test and those that have voted for this legislation have failed the test.  Nancy Pelosi invoked the Declaration of Independence in her closing remarks for the debate.  She asserted incorrectly  that the right to health insurance equated to that of “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”  Speaker Pelosi, let me remind you of some other pertinent quotations from the Declaration of Independence:

“Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just power from the consent of the governed.”   You will find you no longer have our consent.

“That whenever any form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it  is the right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and institute a new Government…”  Ms. Pelosi, prepare to be replaced!

“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, presuming invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.”  Obama’s pledge to fundamentally change America is an affront to our Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

Nancy Pelosi and the liberal progressives blindly supporting Obama’s agenda must, and will be overcome in the 2010 Congressional Elections.  “We the People” are the ultimate sovereigns according to our Constitution and must exercise our right to change this abusive Government.

The Declaration of Independence and our Constitution provide all the tools to fight and their preservation is the reason  why we must continue the fight against statism.!

The Constitution in Crisis!

Richard H. Frank

This week the legislative process in Congress will reach an historical low point as the Democrat-controlled House attempts to steam roller the Constitution and ram their ill-conceived health care reform bill to approval using whatever means necessary to achieve victory. Manipulation of Parliamentary Rules, bribes and threats all combine to expose the corruption at work in both Houses of Congress.  Should “We the People” allow these unconstitutional tactics to be employed, we will have no one to blame but ourselves for loss of liberty and the eventual demise of our Republic.

The legislation which will undoubtedly reach Obama’s desk to be signed into law is opposed by so many Americans that 34 state legislatures are contemplating passage of state law exempting them from recognizing the Bill.  It is time for the legislatures in all  50 states to exercise their 10th Amendment Rights and challenge this unprecedented power grab by the Obama Administration and the 111th Congress.

The Democratic majority’s strategy in the House of Representatives to force acceptance of the Senate Bill and the Reconciliation Fix through various versions of the “Slaughter Solution” is in direct violation of Article I, Sec. 7 of the Constitution.  Any attempt to invoke this measure should result in the immediate impeachment and removal of the House Leadership.  Lacking action by Congress, the states must exercise their constitutional duty to challenge these tactics and force the Federal Courts to stay any further action on the legislation while it is referred to the Supreme Court to determine the constitutionality of the legislative process and provisions of the Bill itself.

Nancy Pelosi and the Congressional leadership are content to replace our Constitution which they have sworn to uphold, with Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals.”  Since they don’t like the rules they will just change the rules.  This fight is no longer about “health care reform.”  It is about preserving the Constitution of the United States of America.

Our Constitution must be held sacred as the “law of the land” transcending any political party, Congress and/or President.  No individual or entity, save our Creator, should have province over the Constitution.  The document contains within itself the means for Amendment and therefore, any and all attempts to circumvent that process must be stopped!

“We the People” of America must take a stand here and now to “protect and preserve” our Constitution whenever and wherever threatened even by those we have elected to represent us.  Demand that Congress abide by their limits on power, and should they not, challenge them through the Judiciary to stop abusing their authority.

No Health Care Mandates or Reconciliation

by Jayne D. Frank

It feels like we keep pounding our heads against a brick wall because no one in Congress is listening to the 65% of Americans that don’t want a massive health care bill and Government intrusion into our lives, but once again it is necessary to remind both Democrats and Republicans in this health care debate, that they work for the People, and the People have spoken!  No massive health care bill, no matter how it is disguised.

As of today, Roll Call reports that Nancy Pelosi is still hell bent on doing a “merged” healthcare bill only through the reconciliation process which requires 51 votes and would shut out debate and participation by the Republicans.  She said that by “educating” the American people  (stupid us!) that the “process” has been used before by both Democrats and Republicans, that it will make reconcilation stink less.  Pelosi is so arrogant that she is completely ignoring the fact that there is a February 25 meeting with President Obama to try and come up with “better ways” to take care of some of the problems with our health care system.  We have written in this blog before, though, that we still feel the February meeting is just a sham and that neither the President or the Democrats have any intention of letting the Republicans present any new ideas which would block passage of a massive Government controlled health care bill; Pelosi’s actions just confirm that point.

I am outraged also that Judd Gregg this morning indicated that he is in favor of mandates to make young Americans and those that are uninsured purchase health care insurance.  Mandates by any other name are still mandates and are unconstitutional. He said he is worried that when young people get sick and go to the doctor or hospital, that those costs are passed along to everyone .  No one disagrees that we should not have to pay for those people, but shouldn’t we start with the extraordinary costs involved in providing healthcare itself, fraud and abuse and tort reform, before talking about mandates.

How about another novel idea?  When my husband was a young man, his mother and father did not have health insurance, but when it was necessary to go to the hospital or doctor, HIS PARENT’S HAD TO PAY.    If this happened just once to a young uninsured person and they knew they would not be off the hook for paying for their care, they WOULD purchase insurance.  It is often a case of laziness and a desire to spend money on other things  with young people; e.g., new electronics, their entertainment and vacations.  Health care is not a right and we cannot continue skirting the issue of personal responsibility in this country.

As far as Nancy Pelosi trying to ram Government-controlled health care down our throats again with reconciliation, PLEASE SPEAK UP fellow Americans.  I know you have been through this for a year and you are tired of saying the same thing over and over, but let your voices be heard loud and clear in Congress that you want honest and fair negotiations on health care fixes that will really work and that you want a full vote in Congress for whatever will come out of the February 25 bill.  Write to your Senators and Representatives, call them, write editorials in your papers, write blogs, and make yourself heard about what you expect Congress to be doing on your behalf.

Mr. Obama, as Nancy Pelosi said – “Are You Serious?”

by Jayne D. Frank

It boggles the mind that President Obama thinks the American People are so stupid that we cannot see through the ambush he is planning as a disguise to discuss and solve the health care problems with the Republicans and Democrats on February 25.  He set this up at the State of the Union on January 27, and as late as today, none of the Republicans know who is coming to the meeting, and most importantly what the agenda will be.  Obama has only said two revealing things; 1) that he does not intend to “restart” negotiations on the bill, and 2) that if he doesn’t get cooperation from the Republicans in Congress, he will just “move health care forward.”  The Administration reports that there will be a merging of both the Senate and House bills in order to have another final bill for the participants to look at on February 25.  President Obama has said to Republicans “Let’s just go through the bill” as if he intends to actually do this line by line.

Notwithstanding any of this charade, and using Mr. Obama’s frequent words “Let me be Clear,” the American people are not fooled by this impending “setup”.   The Republicans, and a few clear-headed Democrats have heard us over the past year that we don’t want the healthcare legislation crafted in secret because it contains multiple provisions that are harmful, way too expensive, unnecessary and some which are unconstitutional.  We the People are concerned about the few million legal citizens that are truly uninsured (which is nowhere close to 30 million).  People should not be dropped because of an illness nor should anyone not be  covered because of an existing condition.  Medicare is a problem and something must be done to control the spiraling costs of this program.

So hear us President Obama, Republicans and Democrats in Congress.   Televising this dog and pony show will not make it any more acceptable to us.   The people of this Country don’t want big Government health care in any form.  We want you to fix what is wrong, piece by piece, issue by issue and start over.  Buying across state lines, tort reform, tackling Medicare fraud and abuse, taking funding for abortions out of any bill, and tackling fixes for preexisting conditions, are the only things that Congress has authority to do as authorized by the people.  Individual mandates are unconstitutional, and we will not allow the Government to slip illegal citizens health care coverage into a bill under the guise of trying to insure all.

It has been a long year, and we are tired, we are angry and we want you, Mr. President and Congress, to get on with the most pressing business of this country.  And that is to free up the private sector and individuals from the shackles that you are putting on them so that we can get  this Country back to work!  Health care will be, and should be, worked out a small piece at a time.  Government can’t run anything correctly and within the financial parameters that they establish, and we will not allow Government to take over 1/6th of this Country’s economy with a massive healthcare bill, even if we have to vote every one of you out!
