Early Voters-There is No One In the Voting Booth With You!

by Jayne D. Frank

All over the Country, you are making your way into the voting booth for early voting to make the most important choice of your lifetime – that of the President of the United States.  It is extremely unfortunate that much of this voting takes place a full month before the scheduled November 6 election, because you will not have had a chance to personally evaluate the candidates from their answers in the Debates, and much can happen to our economy and national security in the upcoming month which could affect your vote.

But the important things to remember when voting are:  1)  There is no union official following you into the booth and no one that will be casting that ballot with you, 2) there is no one in the booth that will make you feel guilty should you no longer feel the first “black” President has performed his duties, and 3) there is only your intellect, knowledge and gut feeling about the path our country is taking and the future of our children that will be with you in that voting booth.

The facts of the last four years and the record of  President Obama will be the only true reality that will help you make this crucial choice in 2012:

  • This President and his Administration lies to the American people about the condition of the economy and their ability to do anything about it.  This is because the President has no experience in the private sector and has no clue how to provide prosperity to the middle class.  His entire life has been spent denigrating the wealthy and capitalist endeavors in this Country and his sole goal is to redistribute your present and FUTURE earnings to those less fortunate.  The President cannot dispute the facts that the wealthy in this Country are your employers, and they overwhelmingly give a huge percentage of their personal income, by choice, to charities that take care of those less fortunate.  Mitt Romney personally chose to give over $4 million of his money in 2011 to poor people.  The wealthy in this Country will be the only ones able to provide you and your family with a secure working environment with the opportunity of millions of new good jobs.
  • You alone are responsible for making the choice of whether your lives and those of your spouse, partner and children will be  negatively affected by choosing to rehire a President that has not done the job he was hired to do over the past four years.  Is there more regulation and interference in the choices you make for your family and will you will be able to provide a comfortable life for them going forward because of the choice you make?  The Obama Government is already in your church making decisions about whether you must support partial birth abortion and contraception; he is in your child’s school changing your children’s lunch choices often leaving them hungry and unable to properly stay focused and learn during the afternoon; his Administration is changing the curriculum of your children’s school to distort, eliminate, or refocus their learning,  not on the basics that can provide them with good jobs, but to better agree with his socialist redistribution statist agenda.  Because of Obama’s regulations and mandates which have hurt small business in this Country, the prospects for you or your family to better your financial condition in the next decade will be severely restricted should you vote to elect him for a second term and continue his policies.
  • Obamacare, unless replaced with a more workable private market health system, will cut into your health choices, extend your waits for needed procedures much like other countries using a similar system, and your individual and/or family health costs will necessarily skyrocket to cover all the people intended to be covered under this flawed legislation.
  • Your cost of living has skyrocketed under the Obama Administration.  Precipitated in large part by the sheer arrogance of the Administration not to tap into and expand our natural resources such as our own off shore oil resources, shale oil and natural gas (in lieu of more “green” energy that costs more and is unreliable at best).  The gasoline prices at the pump have doubled since Obama took office causing the average American family to make budget decisions from the resulting increases in food prices and consumables against paying for gas  to drive to work should they be fortunate enough to have a job.  Can your family afford to continue $4/gallon gas or higher any longer, not to mention how home heating fuel will increase as we approach the winter months?  Because of the high cost of gasoline to ship goods, your  grocery bill is at an all-time high and you are already making decisions for your family whether to feed them cheaper processed box meals rather than healthier and more expensive fresh produce or meats that provide the nutrients your children need.
  • Finally, we only have to look back two weeks at the fact that President Obama and his surrogates deliberately lied to the American people about issues of national security.  They lied to our face about our Americans having been killed by spontaneous protests of a video instead of telling us that Al Qaeda was alive and well and had purposely killed Americans in Libya on the anniversary of our original 9/11 attack.  If he lied about this, how many times will he lie to us about your family’s national security in order to make himself appear more peaceful and anti-aggressive?  As Governor Huckabee indicated this morning, Watergate was the largest Presidential scandal in this Country before Libya, but people did not die in Watergate.  Americans die and continue to die under this President’s leadership.  Don’t put your family at risk with a President who routinely bends the truth when it is convenient to further his agenda and makes the wrong decisions for the American people .

So what candidate should you vote for?  I think you know the answer to that question, so go alone into the voting booth and vote your conscience for your future and the future of your family and our Nation.

We Are Now What We Were Then!

by Jayne D. Frank

I have spent the last several months researching my family genealogy and it has been gruesome, exciting and a pain-staking effort.  I started this effort to find more about my elusive dad but ended up intrigued about my mother’s side of the family.  The result is that I have learned more in these few months than a lifetime of having questioned my parents and the life lessons learned are priceless.

What we are going through today in 2012, I have learned, as a middle class, is not much different than my grandparents went through.  In the 1800s they were both peasants in the fields of richer landlords and owners in Austria-Hungary, Vysoka and Dacov to be exact.  They had no choice but to be farmers as there were no opportunities for advancement and putting food on the table for their families.  Adding this to the political strife these people were feeling, they yearned for the American Dream – prospects for a better life, of earning your own way and more importantly achieving personal liberty for themselves.

My grandfather and grandmother made their way to America in 1900 in cramped, unsanitary quarters for many days and some of those sharing their Dream never made it. All of my people of Slovakian ethnicity found jobs immediately, but because they were Slovakian, had to settle for the lowest-paying  jobs in the mines and railroads, often working 7 days a week for 14-16 hours a day, and of course their wages were not the same as other immigrants.  The single women who immigrated from this region were able to get work as servants or maids only. When they married, they most often did not work outside of the home or else ran boarding houses for others like them.   My grandparents slaved for some 60 some years in often low-paying jobs, but still they put food on the table for all 11 of their children without Government handouts.  Eventually they owned their own home, and were able to do their own farming, a reality that would never have been had they stayed in Czechoslovakia as it was later called after the War. Additionally, they unquestionably were able to have the religious freedom they would not have had in Europe, to worship when and how they wanted.   To them, the American Dream had been achieved.  They provided an opportunity for their children and grandchildren to do better, to prosper, and to “never go back” to the subservience they had experienced in their early years.

Indeed, my parent’s generation did do much better.  They started businesses, attended college and many became professionals, both male and female.  Even though they went through the depression, real life lessons were learned of thrift, of saving, of planning for retirement.  And in large majorities, they did not plan on and did not rely on the Government as taught to them by their parents’ generation.

Now we come to my generation.  We worked hard all our lives and prospered, providing many more opportunities for our children to choose the life they wanted to lead, continually blessed with the personal and economic liberty in America so hard-fought for by their ancestors.   We worked just as hard as our previous generations, trying to save, taking care of all of  our own needs, and instilling those morals in our children.

That is where the American Dream ends!  The secular Progressives in this Country and abroad have been planning and scheming for years on how to fundamentally change America into their vision.  One of economic equality for all (no matter how low that equally would push people), having no public acknowledgement or worship of God permitted, and having all Americans rely on the Government for their subsistence.   And how these Progressives have accomplished many of their goals! The younger generation in overwhelming numbers no longer sees the needs to acknowledge  any “god,” record millions of people have no prospects of an economic future of prosperity and freedom, and even more millions are permanently dependent on the government to put food on the table and obtain an education.  Workers in America that are doing well by their own hard work are encouraged, if not forced by excessive taxation and regulation by the Government, to give up their earnings for redistribution for the “good of all.” And my generation has seen any accumulated retirement wealth in the form of investments and home equity  virtually eliminated as a result of Government intervention and regulation.

If my grandparents were alive today, they would be turning in their graves!  How hard they fought to flee from the political and economic oppression of Europe and how much they gave up to see future generations not have to be faced with the same glum prospects for their futures.

Barack Obama’s Vanishing Economic Recovery!

By: Richard H. Frank

This morning, June 9, 2011 marked the 9th consecutive week where new first time claims for unemployment exceeded 400,000. This fact is in spite of the President claiming that the economy is in recovery and his policies are responsible for the creation of between 2.5 and 3.0 million new jobs. I may not have a Harvard education but am better than the average bear when it comes to arithmetic. If we have had 400,000 new claims per week for the last nine consecutive weeks that equates to 3.6 million Americans that have lost their jobs. The last time I looked 3.6 is larger than 2.5 and 3.0 which means we have gone backwards in job creation under the policies of Obamanomics.

According to the President we should not be concerned as this is just a “blip” that is probably due to seasonal adjustments that will disappear over the coming weeks. He is certain we are not entering a double dip recession and that this small anomaly is only temporary in nature. Temporary for Obama means three or four years based on his prediction that unemployment would not exceed 8% if we adopted his irresponsible stimulus spending program with shovel ready projects geared to produce 500,000 new jobs per month according to Joe Biden.

Just how long will it be before the mainstream media begins to report the truth about the failed policies of this Administration? Energy costs continue to skyrocket, home real estate values deteriorate with each passing month and the misery index resulting from creeping inflation are devastating for senior citizens and low-income families.

In the meantime Congress sits on its hands and refuses to do the bidding of the electorate. I am not sure this nation can recover from the damage done by the Obama Administration during four years pursuing  his socialist agenda. Earlier this week the President said he wakes each morning and his first thoughts are how to create jobs and spur economic growth for America. Apparently those thoughts are fleeting as he then decides where he will travel  for the 2012 election and when his next tee time is scheduled to take place.

The Obama summer of recovery of 2010 vanished before it began and all signs for 2011 point to further deterioration. Now is the time for change we can truly believe in and not the change Barack Obama has imposed upon this once proud nation.  I anticipate summer will be spent by many people in this country growing their own fruit and vegetables and not putting those expensive beef steaks and hamburgers on the grill!

Time For Obama’s Actions to Reflect his Words!

By: Richard H. Frank

Barack Obama’s address to the White House press corps this morning concerning the release of his birth certificate, which was a distraction (his words) to his efforts to solve America’s problems, puts him on the spot to seriously solve the nations economic ills.

So now Mister President let’s get serious (again your words) and take the initiative to address the following National issues:

  • Adopt a cohesive, comprehensive energy policy that takes the initiative against the Mideast oil cartels to manipulate oil prices. Lift the moratorium against exploration and drilling in the U.S., and issue permits currently held up in bureaucratic agencies immediately.
  • Stop vilifying any individual, political party or private organization that takes issue with your agenda. Demonizing  the Oil, Gas and Coal industries, and calling political opponents like Donald Trump a sideshow carnival barker in lieu of a debate of the issues is less than presidential.
  • Adopt a budget plan, or legislation, that assures fiscal responsibility for the future national budgets including addressing entitlements, tax reform and deficit spending.
  • Stop the use of and repeal executive orders that circumvent Congress and are not authorized under the Constitution that impose onerous regulations on “We the People” in support of any political ideology.
  • Restore the Constitutional authority guaranteed to every State under the 10th Amendment to the Constitution and limit the size and scope of the Federal Government to those powers enumerated in the Constitution.
Mr. President, these are the issues affecting the very existence of our Republic and the well-being of every American. You are now on record again as of 9:45 am, April 27, 2011 to address the above issues and get serious about their solutions.
Once again America has heard his rhetoric, but we won’t hold our breath waiting for leadership to come from our neophyte President, Barack Obama. After all he is above such detailed analysis and solutions and will just delegate the problems to one of his Czars to come up with some progressive, Marxist pipe dream to tax our way out of these problems  and  the next crisis.

Obama’s Agends is America’s Tsunami!

By: Richard H. Frank

Over the past four years, beginning with the Presidential Campaign for the 2008 election we have listened to both political parties proclaim that the economy and job creation was the number one priority for their administration should they be elected. The American public was forced to listen to the hollow promises of “Hope and Change” that would fundamentally change America and the world should Obama’s liberal progressive agenda be adopted. Since that time (2009) what have we endured as a nation?

  • Average retail price of gasoline has increased 100% from $1.83 in 2009 to $3.66 today.
  • Crude Oil price/barrel increased 135% and we still lack a cohesive energy policy.
  • Unemployment rate continues to hover between 9 and 10% even with the government’s alteration in the method for calculating the number.
  • Number of food stamp recipients increased by 22% and rising.
  • Number of long term underemployed 146.2% increase.
  • Government’s solution to spend our way to recovery has increased the national debt by 32.2% to reach $14.0 trillion.
  • Over 6 million homes currently in foreclosure in spite or TARP monies given to the banks to implement mortgage loan modification programs.
  • Our health care industry costs continuing the upward spiral out of control due to the liberal progressives ramming the unpopular legislation dubbed “Obama care” down the throats of Americans over their overwhelming objections.

The travesty to all of these situations is that they are the result of our Federal Government overstepping the enumerated powers defined in our Constitution. The first 5 items listed above could be immediately impacted and reversed if the Federal Government and its agencies would get out of the way of the free enterprise system and develop a comprehensive energy policy for America that does not change with every congressional and presidential election. Energy independence for America will result in establishing a free market price for oil and not that controlled by Mideast cartels.

The $816 billion that was spent on stimulus by the Administration and the 111th Congress accomplished just one thing. That was to create a 2% increase in government sector jobs; jobs which must be paid for with the sweat of those Americans working in the private sector.

Today, the announcement was made that the housing market reached its lowest level in the past 9 years. The resulting loss in equity to those seniors that have invested in their homes while raising their families in order to provide for a return after retirement find themselves facing a future without an equity nest-egg with which to supplement retirement and in many cases foreclosure as the banks refuse to respond to their request for loan modifications.

Lastly, we now are finding out what is in the “Affordable Health Care Law” forced upon every American as part of the “Hope and Change” agenda of this administration. Each and every argument set forth in opposition to this law is now proving to be true. Twenty-six states are suing the Federal Government for the law either being unconstitutional or for its violation of the 10th Amendment provision upholding States sovergnity.

The mid-term elections of 2010 expressed the will of the people against continued uncontrolled spending and limiting the size of the Federal Government. Yet, just four short months following that election, Congress and the President, act as though the election never took place and are conducting business as usual.  There are 31% of Americans that approve of the Presidents management of our economy. The remaining 69% are tired of his unending platitudes and proclamations that jobs and the economy are his number one priority and that we must stop spending when he continues to proceed without a budget for 2011 and has the nerve to present a $3.7 trillion proposal to Congress for 2012 that contains an additional $1.6 trillion deficit.

If stupidity, or doubletalk, could be considered a high crime or misdemeanor we would have cause to remove this unqualified novice from office. Unfortunately, we must rely upon the 112th Congress to keep him in check.  Many will say that we are destined for gridlock as long as Harry Reid sets the agenda in the Senate. I would gladly endure the next two years of gridlock until we can replaced Obama, Reid, Pelosi and RINOs who refuse to take the hard decisions to address the budget and unsustainable entitlements that have bankrupted this once great nation, and elect men of principle to put America on a course to true recovery.

President Obama Desperate about Jobs

by Richard H. Frank

The message of the 2010 mid-term elections has finally begun to sink in for the Obama Administration and Democrat members of the Senate.  Suddenly, in a matter of less than 90 days following the massive defeat of Democrats in the House of Representatives, President Obama has switched his rhetoric from demonizing business to proposing reduction in regulation of business and encouraging tax incentives for hiring to improve job creation in America.

The Repeal vote in the House of Representatives of Obamacare, whether symbolic or not, has placed the President and all Democrats that support Government-controlled health care on notice that they are in jeopardy in the coming 2012 election.

However, be vigilant and listen carefully to any promise emanating from the lips of Barack Obama.  For the past two years his policies for redistribution of wealth and passage of legislation that retards economic growth cannot be changed by his rhetoric and empty promises.

The quickest actions within the power of the Administration and Congress to promote economic growth and ease the unemployment situation resides in three specific areas.  First:  To achieve a balanced budget and stop uncontrolled spending.  Second:  To reduce the corporate tax rate for businesses from 35% downward in the range of 20%.  Third:  to remove the shackles from businesses and entrepreneurs that would truly achieve energy independence in America.  Remove restrictions on domestic oil exploration, off-shore drilling and development of Anwar.  Expand nuclear power capacity and improve the delivery grid across our nation.  And most of all, stop spreading the misinformation that the only way to achieve energy independence is to put taxpayer subsidies into businesses which will only create batteries for cars that people don’t want and wind-generating equipment that isn’t proven to work and save money in the long run and that the American people don’t want as well.

Should these “real energy initiatives” be undertaken our economy would spring to life and create jobs beyond the wildest expectations of Government economists.

Instead, President Obama and the Congressional Democrats would rather manipulate the methods by which unemployment is calculated and attempt to count jobs saved or created as indicators of economic improvement.  When the numbers do not support the Administration’s contention they just change how the numbers are calculated (“by any means possible”).

Today, however, Americans are far too well-informed and are critically aware of their real economic situations than to just accept what the Government purports as fact.

You may expect to see over the next 12 months that the unemployment numbers will be reduced to a level well below 9%.  This may, in fact, be the result of increased employment from the need to replenish inventories depleted over the past three years, or from manipulation of the calculations for political purposes.  Like it or not, the campaign for holding political office in 2012 in well underway!

Beware Obama’s seeming to have moved towards the center as he governs.  He is an ideologue and his political agenda has not changed.  Watch what he does and not what he says.  The next 23 months are critical to Barack Obama’s political survival as President of the United States and for those Democrats up for election in 2012.  These months are also critical to the survival of our Republic as envisioned by our Founding Fathers.

Clearly, the old adage that says “Don’t believe everything you hear and only half of what you see” is appropriate for each of us to remember over the next two years.

Obama’s Summer of Recovery is Really a Summer of Despair for Americans!

by Richard H. Frank

President Obama, Vice President  Biden, Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid must all be drinking from the same bottle of spirits or smoking the same stash of medical marijuana.  The script they have committed to memory is wearing thin with Americans. They credit the stimulus with creating or saving 3 million jobs when in reality we have seen a substantial loss of jobs since Obama’s coronation approaching 6 million.  Despite the Democratic Congress passing legislation that extends unemployment compensation for up to 99 weeks, we have seen new claims increase from 450,000 to half a million each week over the past month.  Even the least educated among us knows that the numbers do not agree with the claims being made by the Obama Administration.

In spite of all the evidence to the contrary, Obama sees the summer of 2010 as the Summer of Recovery.  He cites the creation of green jobs such the Holland, Michigan plant expected to employ 200+ people to produce batteries for the Government Motors all-electric car, the “Volt.”  A car that will travel a meer 40 miles on a charge and cost the consumer $41,000.

During 2011 the Volt production is planned for 10,000 units with future volume expected to reach 40,000 units.  That’s 40,000 units for an industry “pre-Obama” producing up to 15 million units.  More importantly, for Michigan with unemployment approaching 14% (28.9% in Detroit), the green jobs amount to a drop of rain in the Great Lakes.

The Democrats have contended that trickle down economics did not work under the Reagan Administration.  The only trickle down we see from Obamanomics is misery and despair on the part of upwards to 20% of Americans.  Anyone living in a city or state dependent upon manufacturing, energy production or tourism has felt the devastating impact of the mis-guided policies of the Obama Administration. Businesses that have thrived for decades are gone leaving entire communities to struggle for survival.

For many Americans, whose only wealth was invested in the value and equity of their houses, that equity has evaporated largely due to Government interfering in the free market associated with acquiring a real estate mortgage.  Home purchases are down in July, 2010 27%, and foreclosures are at an all time high as unemployment holds at 9.5% (actually more like 18%).  The prospect of finding work for many is non-existent.  The next shoe to fall under the Obama Administration is the expiration of the Bush tax cuts.  Today there are 40 million Americans receiving food stamps and we may expect to see that number increase in 2011.

History tends to repeat itself and the 2010 Summer of Recovery may descend into the Summer of Despair where big cities such as Detroit, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Chicago and New York may be faced with civil disturbances rivaling those of 1967.

The only thing that may have thwarted this situation are the continued expansion of welfare and unemployment by the Administration and Congress.  Unfortunately, there is a limit to government support of those non-productive programs.

Barack Obama would have us believe that his policies “have brought our financial system back from the brink.”  Passage of TARP was supposed to save the financial markets and rid the system of toxic assets.  What it has accomplished is to make many banks and companies rich and not addressed the toxic assets situation.  Additionally, banks were encouraged to lend to small business in order to stimulate hiring to increase the levels of employment. The banks have achieved solvency through TARP but are not lending.   Established businessmen I have spoken to claim banks they have dealt with for years are so encumbered by Government regulation that the hurdles they have established to qualify for construction or expansion loans are insurmountable for the average successful small businessman.  Some banks are requiring up to 45% down to qualify for a construction loan and has drastically reduced or virtually eliminated the business prospects for acquiring new contracts or increasing sales.

Government finds itself desperate to impose taxes and fees where they think they will raise revenue to support their existence.  The truth is such oppressive actions only serve to suppress economic activity and thus result in even less revenue to support government services.

Barack Obama’s “change we can believe in” and promise to “fundamentally change America” has led to his Summer of  Recovery tour. Unfortunately that change is despair for more and more Americans and a death spiral for our free enterprise system.
