Whatever Happened to “One Nation Under God” ?

By: Richard H. Frank

Something has changed radically in the “United States of America” that my brothers and I grew up in and served in our military to protect. Politically there seems to be no respect for the positions taken by opposing parties and the principles upon which this nation was founded. Instead we are living in an age where demands are made to strip our history of anything viewed as racist or objectionable to some particular minority or class of individuals in the country. Freedom of speech is somehow being turned upon its head and becoming freedom from speech. Respect for the very institutions that made this nation great is undermined by anarchists and supported by many members of the elite media. No longer are ideologies vastly different between only the North and the South, but are now between the East and West Coasts, leaving the vast center of the nation isolated in pursuit of the prosperity they are equally entitled to under our Constitution.

Viewing America from the outside an observer would think the country has evolved into two separate nations neither of which is sovereign unto itself, nor has definable borders that may be defended. These are the makings for a bloody civil uprising that will eventually pit Constitutionalists against anarchists and a failing of the rule of law in America. Those of us old enough to remember Nikita Khrushchev’s prediction in the 1960’s that “America would be destroyed from within” may live to see that day is at hand.

Then there is “Social Media” the product of the digital age we live within. Designed as a communication tool with which people could communicate and find common ground to foster friendships and understanding between the races and other nations, Facebook and Twitter have become the digital mega-voice for everyone with an opinion to vent their feelings. No matter how constructive theses social communication tools were envisioned to be there are those that choose to abuse and subvert their intended use. Take for instance the unsubstantiated sexual abuse charges against dozens of celebrities, media personalities and politicians causing them to lose their careers without being able to face their accusers and without a day in court. So much for innocent until proven guilty. Tweeting anonymously has become the art of slandering another person without the fear of repercussion. Somewhere along the way we have lost our moral compass not to mention any religious doctrine “to do unto others as we would have them do unto us”.

Unfortunately, for those of us that remember a much different America we are placed in a category of those that will not accept change according to Barack Obama’s saying that we “cling to our guns and bibles” as opposed to relinquishing our hard-fought for freedoms. The liberal progressives would surrender to the Orwellian vision of having “Big Brother” cater to our every need. Big Brother being the all-powerful Federal Government. Today we find ourselves trapped halfway between a rock and a hard spot with the Federal Government controlling the livelihood of over 61 million senior citizens dependent upon Social Security and Medicare for our existence and health care. The political elites in Washington D.C.leverage their bargaining position to achieve power using seniors as pawns in their game of political chess. Threatening a government shutdown is the favorite ploy of both political parties in order to achieve some politically expedient objective. They would risk withholding entitlement payments to 17% of the population to get what they want. The more government controls the individual the better the liberal progressives like it and their march for Big Brother and total domination. Draining the swamp in Washington D. C. is just the beginning of what the founders envisioned for our nation. The slippery slope of issuing executive orders in lieu of legislation created in congress and signed into law by the President moves one step closer to Big Brother having total disregard for the Constitution of the United States of America.

If the Chief Executive (the President) doesn’t like the constraints the Constitution places upon the government, then he should champion an amendment to the Constitution and refrain from legislating through issuance of Executive Orders. Thank God we have term limits on the Office of the President. Any single Presidential term would more than likely expire before amending the Constitution in most cases could be accomplished.

As for “One Nation Under God” I fear that the liberal progressive creation of “separation of Church and State,” never mentioned in the Constitution, may in fact have become a defacto construct in law. The acknowledgement of God in the public square or any petition to the deity in our schools is now viewed as a cardinal sin against the state. Given time and the direction of our courts it will not be long before the mention of God will be stricken from the very documents upon which this great nation was founded. I can only hope for posterity that I am wrong.

I wonder how future generations will honor this country should it no longer be required to recite the “Pledge of Allegiance” or, to stand while singing “The National Anethum”? Maybe the pledge and song will be as depicted in Orwell’s 1984 to Big Brother.

Partisanship Has Become”The Politics of Personal Destruction!”

By: Richard H. Frank

The divide in Washington, D.C. between the opposing political parties and factions within them has become so toxic that compromise in Congress seems impossible. The political elites in both parties seem to have forgotten that they were elected by “We the People” to serve us and not their party leaders nor their ideology above all else. During their campaign for election or reelection they all proclaim that they are dedicated to improving the lives of every American and especially the middle class in this country. Yet every time legislation is introduced to do just that our representatives show their true colors and proceed to obstruct and block any progress from taking place in the name of protecting some economic minority from a perceived inequity that they may encounter. Truth be known, these spineless individuals be they in the House of Representatives or in the Senate are looking out for themselves and some special interest above their constituents. Immigration reform, tax reform and trade among nations are just political footballs that get kicked back and forth with no resolution intended on the part of Congress just to keep the electorate happy. In the end their excuse is to blame the other side of the aisle for not getting anything done.

In the midst of all this political posturing we see the ongoing investigations in the House and Senate to get to the bottom of Russian collusion in that 2016 election. There are so many committees conducting investigations I expect there is little time remaining to pursue solutions to America’s numerous problems by passing legislation to correct the mess our Government has created in immigration, the Tax Code and onerous entitlements for which our children and grandchildren have been saddled with.

Then there is the hatred for Donald J. Trump and the agenda for which he was elected. Democrats in the House of Representatives have introduced articles of impeachment against the President. These imbeciles need to read the Constitution and what constitutes “high crimes and misdemeanors “before making asses of themselves just because they cannot stand President Trump. It doesn’t matter that he has not done anything to justify their actions; it is that he just might do something in the future and thus must be deranged and removed from Office.

Thus far their attempts to slander him using the Democrat’s tactic of personal destruction have failed and the electorate has had it with those that pursue the “Politics of Personal Destruction”. Their method includes making accusations about their opponent which are baseless and proceeding to use the media to try to convict their target in the court of public opinion without regard to the presumption of innocence or a trial. The latest example of this is Judge Robert Moore seeking the Senate seat in Alabama being charged with sexual abuses that allegedly occurred over 40 years ago. Even Republicans have turned against the Judge and should he be elected they are threatening to refuse to seat him in the Senate. So much for our democratic institutions, the presumption of innocence and the power of the people in electing someone accused of a crime. Ever wonder why that logic didn’t apply to Bill Clinton who lied to the American people and was finally forced to admit his immoral actions only after his DNA proved him to be a liar.

Today allegations of sexual misconduct have been leveled against Senator Al Franken. Let’s see how long it will take for the Democratic spin doctors in the Senate to attribute his actions as comic relief with no harm intended. I guess if you are a Democrat even in the light of photographic proof of your actions all will be forgiven. Forgiven hell–he needs to resign today since his actions have been confirmed.

Then we have Crooked Hillary. Liar personified whether it be about Benghazi, her deleted emails or covering up for her sexual predator husband and trashing his numerous victims while being supported by a bias press.

Americans are sick and tired of career politicians, politics of personal destruction and a dishonest news media. Those who spend a lifetime sucking off the teat of government are prone to corruption and place themselves above the average American and view us as unworthy simpletons to be led by the elite ruling class in Washington and their bureaucrats across agencies never imagined by our Founding Fathers. The saying that “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts completely” has never been as true as it is today. The Obama Administration’s investigation of Hillary Clinton is a classic example of government gone amuck. Countless political appointees in the FBI, the State Department and the Justice Department should be prosecuted not to mention the IRS for targeting conservative groups following the rise of the Tea Party movement. But don’t hold your breath because the political establishment and the deep state will never let the facts be known or be presented to a grand jury for indictment.

Unfortunately for us, Donald Trump can not drain the swamp called Washington D.C. by himself. It will take “We the People” rising up and insisting on a Constitutional amendment imposing term limits upon Congress to keep our representatives from succumbing to pressures from special interests and eventual institutionalized corruption that exists in Congress today. The balance of power must be restored and both Houses of Congress mandated to work together for the American people. During the first 12 months of the Trump Administration the House of Representatives has passed over 300 bills and forwarded them to the Senate. Fewer than 85 have been brought to the floor of the Senate for consideration or a vote. This is an example of how 535 individual representatives are screwing 350 million Americans by not doing their job. You and I would be fired if our work record was as pitiful as that of Congress. With only a few legislative days left in 2017 you can bet that we will not see tax reform become a reality in 2017.

But after all as Mitch McConnell said about the President, “That’s not how things happen around here.” I guess our expectations are just too high.

Revenge of the Swamp People!

By: Richard H. Frank

Seven months have passed since Donald J. Trump was sworn in as our 45th President. The Libertyssong Blog has remained silent with regard to the circus created by the media, Democrats in Congress, the RINOS in the Republican Party and, yes, the Trump administration including the President himself. Charges of collusion with the Russians by the Trump campaign and the ensuing Congressional investigations are nothing more than a smoke screen and delaying tactic to prevent the administration from pursuit of the agenda for America upon which Trump was elected. Millions upon millions of dollars are being spent by the Special Counsel Mueller to pursue a which hunt in search of some infraction by anyone associated with the Trump Campaign in any manner whatsoever. Meanwhile the media has lost all credibility whatssoever with the public in their effort to overturn the vote of the people by publishing uncollaborated reports of unconstitutional actions taken by the President that rise to the level requiring his impeachment.

To make matters worse President Trump uses his twitter account to respond to the BS and loses the focus on that which is important to the American people.

The real scandal lies within the hallowed halls of Congress and rests squarely on the shoulders of the Republicans who for seven years shouted for the immediate repeal and replacement of “The Affordable Care Act” better known as “Obamacare”. All their excuses for being unable to fulfill their promise to repeal this disastrous law disappeared with the election of Donald Trump. Yet suddenly when it comes to putting their money (or future reelection) where their mouths are, they have choked. Whatever happened to all the plans they put forward when the ACA was being forced down the throat of those they were supposed to represent, such as being able to purchase insurance across state lines, making insurance transferrable from job tho job, and tort reform all of which were supposed to reduce premiums for the average American.

So here we sit seven months into the Trump presidency bogged down in Russian investigations for interfering in our elections, alleged collusion by the Tump campaign with Russia to defeat Hillary Clinton when it is she and her campaign that should be investigated for the numerous felonies committed on her behalf.

So let’s turn to the “Swamp People” for a minute. These are the Establishment in Washington D.C. that are members of the ruling elite class that includes members of Congress from both parties, agency bureaucrats, and government professionals. For these individuals Trump represents a threat to their very existence and power. They view Trump as an outsider having no business mettling in their affairs nor how they should decide to conduct the business within their own agencies. They will not only resist any form of legislation that moves the Trump agenda forward but will challenge every executive action in that liberal court system to block efforts to uphold federal law including immigration, sanctuary cities and law enforcement.

If you doubt the existence of the “Swamp People” just look at what has occurred in the Senate with regard to repealing Obamacare. We have the Freedom caucus, the Tuesday caucus, Rand Paul, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski the entire Democrat minority and don’t forget John McCain casting the deciding vote against a bill that was designed to forge a compromise between the House and Senate that allowed for amendments in an effort to give relief to those Americans that can neither afford the massive premiums or deductibles resulting from the Affordable Care Act.

Congress by virtue of the entrenched ruling class no longer represents the people that elected them. To hell with the American voter! They will tell us whatever we want to hear at election time and then do whatever the hell benefits themselves most when it comes to passing legislation. If you doubt what I am saying just wait until “Tax Reform” and “Infrastructure Spending” comes before them for a vote. I won’t hold my breath waiting for them to adopt the “Trump Agenda.”

It’s long past time for we the “American Voter” to “Drain the Swamp” and insist upon term limits in Congress. Four terms in the House of Representatives and two in the Senate followed by a mandatory one term interval before a candidate may seek reelection will do wonders to drain the swamp of corruption and dead wood resulting from an institution made up of professional politicians sucking off the teat of the taxpaying citizenry.

Although I don’t agree with all of Trump’s methods I do agree with the objective of his agenda “To Make America Great Again”.

Hypocrites Among Us!

by Richard H. Frank

The media feeding frenzy with regard to sexist remarks made by Donald Trump over a decade ago is an example of “Clinton’s Campaign of Personal Destruction.” There is no doubt that Trump’s remarks were crass and disrespectful to women and to anyone hoping to respect a leader with high moral convictions. Unfortunately, human beings tend to reflect attitudes prevalent during various times in their life’s experience. I say this having grown up and worked in circumstances not unlike that of Donald Trump.

Dr. Donald Massy’s book “What You Are is Where You Were When” sheds some insight as to how our beliefs and morals are established and ingrained in our thinking. This is not to say that we are racists or sexists or antisemites and cannot evolve and alter the effect of the environment which we grew up and matured within.

Now in the heat of the tightly contested election of 2016 with less than 30 days before we cast our votes, pundits ascend to the moral high ground to cast aspersions on the character of Donald J. Trump. Men like Geraldo Rivera, Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan seek to set themselves morally above Mr. Trump expressing their outrage to evangelicals and female voters in particular. I challenge men like these to examine their own past and swear that they have never uttered anything akin to the words used by Donald Trump.

The left-leaning media and these men and their ilk will never accept Trump’s apology not because it is insincere but for a whole list of political and personal motivations. These individuals hold themselves up as devout Christians and condemn Trump as being without remorse or redemption. I would remind them of two lessons from the scriptures that they must be familiar with:

“Let he that is without sin cast the first stone,” and

“Judge not lest ye be judged.”

If you can search your soul and are convinced that the statements made by Trump in 2005 while entrenched in his business dealings disqualify him to be our President to take care of our big economic, terror and immigration issues, then you are either naive or a hypocrite. Those that oppose Trump will say that “words matter.” I contend that although words are important, “actions matter” even more. Think about that as you evaluate Hillary Clinton and her past as the alternative and prepare to cast your ballot on November 8, 2016.

Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie!

by Richard H. Frank

Fourteen months have passed since the New York Times broke the story exposing the existence of Hillary Clinton’s illegal use of a private server to conduct official State Department business. Since then the FBI and Justice Department have played a coy game attempting to describe this obvious breach of the law by Hillary Clinton as a “lapse in judgment” or in Hillary’s words “a mistake” wherein “she never received or sent any classified emails.” That firm assertion by the former Secretary of State has morphed into “…any emails marked ‘classified'” although over 2,000 emails were received or sent that were obvious and deemed to be classified or above by the FBI and Statement Department investigators.

The Director of the FBI James Comey and Obama’s Attorney General Loretta Lynch both seem to be singing from the same musical score when questioned about the status of their investigations and the potential of indicting Clinton for her actions while serving as “Secretary of State.”

In April, 2016 Barack Obama enters the debate during an interview on Fox News with Chris Wallace stating that he believed Hillary did nothing that impacted our National Security negatively and in essence sent a message to the Justice Department that an indictment would in his estimation be inappropriate. He may as well have stated “If indicted and convicted he would sign an Executive Pardon prior to his exiting office.” Should there be any possibility of impaneling a Grand Jury to hear the case for indictment, that action would have certainly have taken place before the month of May. Under no circumstances will Obama allow the Democratic candidate to proceed to the General Election under threat of indictment.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall at the FBI and the Justice Department as their officials struggle to manipulate the language contained in existing law to justify not indicting Hillary. Once again, as with Bill Clinton, it will eventually come down to the definition of what “is” is.

“We the People” are about to witness the demise of a nation governed under the law to a nation governed by the will of the political establishment. Once that happens we may as well change our national anthem from “The Star Spangled Banner” to “Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie.” And God Have mercy on us all!

The Problem With Trump!

by Richard H. Frank

As is the case with most informed Americans I believe that the Washington Establishment in both Houses of Congress is populated by professional political elites that have no regard for what “We the People” want and expect from them as our representatives. The Founders never imagined our Representative Republic would be manipulated and controlled by a professional political class of individuals more interested in furthering their personal fortunes than representing their constituents. Unfortunately this situation will never change until a Constitutional Amendment is ratified imposing strict term limits upon every branch of the government including the Supreme Court.

The Electorate is in the process of nominating candidates for both political parties to run for the Office of President of the United States in the 2016 General Election. The phenomenon being witnessed in the early primary returns place the Republican candidate, Donald Trump, on the fast track to secure his party’s nomination. On the Democratic ticket we see a socialist, Bernie Sanders, giving Hillary Clinton a serious run for her money, not withstanding the prospects of her indictment for disclosure of national security classified and “top secret” information while Secretary of State in the Obama Administration.

Is it any wonder then that the American voter would be attracted to someone like Donald Trump whose campaign mortar is “Make America Great Again.” His central campaign theme centers around the incompetence of previous administrations in negotiating trade deals with foreign countries, corporate taxes, the fight against ISIS, Obamacare and bringing jobs back to America.

He promises to be the greatest job creator as President in the history of the country. He assumes the role of a “pied piper” saying things that appeal to the voter and resonates in the minds of our overburdened middle class. However, the “what” he will do is not accompanied with the “how” he will do it and thus lacks substance.

What is most troubling to me is the absence of any mention of upholding the Constitution in his appeal to voters in this primary election cycle. Maybe he is looking forward to becoming the Republican Party nominee and is holding his promise to “preserve, protect and defend” the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic” as his major attack against whoever becomes the Democrat nominee.

This is the problem I see with Trump, and as a Constitutional Conservative very much in support of an outsider not part of the established political cartel I must withhold my support until he demonstrates through his planned actions and spoken commitment to uphold the laws of the land and our Constitution!

13 Hours – American Heroes Betrayed by our Government

by Richard H. Frank

Every American needs to see this motion picture which depicts the actual account of the brave men that were on the ground in Benghazi on that fateful night of September 11, 2012. As the film concluded the audience rose and silently left the theater. The preceding 2 hours carried the viewers on an emotional roller coaster. For me personally, I experienced feelings of pain, anger, disgust and shame for what six brave individuals endured while attempting to protect the lives of 25 CIA and State Department covert operators stationed at the Annex approximately a mile from the consulate which was ultimately overrun costing the lives of Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods.

The account of what happened is a straight forward explanation of the events in chronological order covering 13 hours from the initial call for help at the consulate to the mortar attack on the Annex that killed Doherty and Woods. No mention is made by name of President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta or General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

There is little doubt that had the security contractors located at the Annex been allowed to respond to the initial call for help from the two security personnel assigned to protect Chris Stevens, all four of the deceased would be alive today. Perhaps the numerous pleas for improved security from Ambassador Stevens might have finally been answered affirmatively as a result of the attack that night.

The Administration’s account of what happened is torn to shreds and each and every excuse for failing to dispatch assistance in a timely manner is shown as blatantly false. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Chairman on the Joint Chief of Staff, General Dempsey, lied when they claimed they could not mount a rapid action response team in time to assist in repelling the attack “which was over in less than two hours.” The AFRICOM Commandar General Carter Ham claimed there was no rapid response assets available nor any C130 gunships to render assistance. Yet the State Department memo alerting the embassies to be vigilant at the anniversary of 9/11 was eminent and they should prepare for an attack was obviously not conveyed to the Pentagon or just ignored. The film makes it clear that a flyover by F16s based in Italy could also have cover the distance in about 20 minutes.

All of the above is SNAFU’s are typical of the Obama Administration which suffers from chronic paralysis from analysis. So much for our Government’s credibility.
Then there is our Commander in Chief who when advised of the attack told Panetta to take whatever action would be necessary and keep him posted, whereupon Obama undertook a campaign fundraising trip to bolster his re-election coffers.

As for our then Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, we may never know what she did during these fateful 13 hours. But then again, as she arrogantly stated during her first public hearing on Benghazi “At this point, what difference does it make if it was a spontaneous attack or just a couple of guys out for a walk wanting to kill four Americans?”

The political coverup within the Obama Administration continues today 3-1/2 years after the attack and the investigation is thwarted by the democrats on the select committee at every turn. We likely will never learn the truth about this cover up for decades to come.

This is why I feel such anger, disgust and shame as an American. Angry and disgusted by those elected to protect our brave people in service to our country. Shamed by their contrived lies to the Country concerning what caused the attack and their pitiful excuse for failing to assist our people begging for help to save their lives.

I am ashamed of an Administration so obsessed with holding power in an upcoming election seven weeks away that remaining in power took precedence over immediately dispatching help to our people in Benghazi.

From my perspective Leon Panetta, General Dempsey, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama bear the personal responsibility for the death of Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods. Further our Government showed a lack of character to be truthful to the American people about what actually occurred. And what of the 25 plus CIA and State Department covert operatives that to now have remain silent concerning the events of September 11, 2012? Is their silence due to some threat of reprisal from our corrupt Government officials or is it that their activities were unknown and illegal under our rule of law?

Maybe the Select House Committee on Benghazi will uncover the truth. We the People deserve nothing less!
