Obama’s Agenda IS on the Backs of the Middle Class and Elderly

by Jayne D. Frank

Listening to President Obama’s lies once again today in the Rose Garden, I cannot help but wonder how many elderly people in this Country still buy his “crap!”  Having worked all my life in the corporate world and owning a small business during my semi-retired years, I have seen first-hand the affect of his policies on my family and my neighbors.  We lost our small business in the wake of the mistrust and economy downturn following the election of Barack Obama in 2008 and since that time have seen our own standard of living, as senior citizens, as well as that of our children, decline to a point approaching poverty.  We might as well not have worked and paid taxes all of these years ; perhaps the hippies had it right in the 60’s – “If it feels good – do it!”  We could have enjoyed not working, searching the world over for our “other selves” and just had a good time, instead of being productive Americans, taking care of our parents along the way, and hoping to finally have that “good time” during our retirements.

Now that we have arrived at our Golden Years, we find ourselves, like millions of senior citizens, in 2011:

1)  Paying 3.66/gallon average price of gasoline over the $1.67 in 2008; we can’t afford to take trips anywhere.

2)  Looking at another 3.5% increase in cost of our stay-at-home grocery bill, caused almost entirely by crops diverted to biofuels and smaller yields caused by EPA regulations on farmers; that leaves us nothing to ever go out to dinner with each other.

3)  Looking at a future where doctors are to be rewarded for their cost-saving, performance-based, rationing of our medical care, as most recently repeated by President Obama in his speech today;

4) Incurring Medicare premium increases in 2012 through 2014 which will offset any COLA increases seniors may get, caused singularly by Obamacare; again keeping seniors locked in their homes unable to spend any money and help spur the economy.

5) Investigating ways to pay for our prescriptions in 2012 and future years as Obamacare and the Obama administration make it harder for us to pay higher increases in our insurance plans.  Perhaps, somewhere in Obama’s vision is a “Soylent Green” kind of world where we can all peacefully get out of the way to make room for younger generations;

6)  Worrying about our children and grandchildren losing their jobs without any future for rehiring, losing their real estate investments and not having a committed Congress who will ensure that our children will not be paying off our governmental debts forever.

I wanted to travel with my husband, to pay my way in life, to not have to worry about my children and their futures, and to be able to stay well.  I fear that unless seniors wake up in this country, get their voices back and resist President Obama’s efforts to reshape our beautiful Country in HIS vision, that this will only be a memory we once had.

What I want is for the class warfare and the lies of this Administration to end so that we can get about healing the divisions in our country and make America better for all Americans.  43% of Americans pay nothing in this country, not counting all the millions we are spending on people that have never paid into our system and are not citizens.  But instead of addressing the real problems that are facing this country, such as the true cost of immigration (legal and illegal), a true “welfare class” that has never worked and don’t want to work, and an obsolete and ineffective tax system, as well as Government spending, the Administration is now targeting seniors, who are the real victims in this scenario playing out in Washington.

The Politics of the Destruction of America

by: Richard H. Frank

The latest crisis created by the Washington, D.C.  elites is the impending default on the National Debt, which according to the Obama Administration would put the world’s financial system into irreversible  collapse.  Having  reached the existing debt limit of $14.3 trillion established by Congress, Barack Obama has resorted to the fallback tactic of “fear” to frighten seniors and military personnel in hopes they will call upon their representatives to increase the debt limit by $2.5 trillion.

Barack Obama’s statement that he could not guarantee payments to Social Security recipients and military personnel is ridiculous and Congress should call his bluff by drafting legislation that forces prioritizing payments for interest on the national debt first followed by the military and Social Security in this order with all other program priorities established in order of importance by the Department of the Treasury.

Passage of such legislation in the House of Representatives will insure the  nation’s priorities are established and assure the full faith and credit of the nation.  If  either the Senate or the President refuses to pass and sign this legislation, the public will become acutely aware of where the political priorities of the Administration may be found.

To quote Paul Ryan “We don’t have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem!”  Barack Obama states that he will support a “big picture” program that cuts $4 trillion from spending over the next 10 years while increasing taxes on the rich.  The rich are those Americans earning $200,000 annually.  His proposal has no specifics as to what programs will be cut to avert the crisis but insists Congress must increase the debt limit by $2.5 trillion now so he can save $4 trillion over the next 10 years.  Where are the savings (spending cuts) to come from Mr. President?

The House of Representatives has identified $2.5 trillion in cost cuts over 10 years.

Consider a sampling of 55 programs and question why they are included in the budget in the first place.

  • Eliminate duplicate education programs.  HR 2274 removes 68 at a savings of $1.3 billion annually.
  • Amtrak subsidies $1.6 billion  annually.
  • National Endowments for The Arts – $167.5 million annually, and Humanities $1.675 million annually.
  • Corporation for Public Broadcasting subsidies $445 million annually
  • Legal  Services corporation $420 million annually
  • Community Development Fund $4.5 billion annually
  • Federal Travel Budget – Cut by 1/2  – $7.5 billion annually
  • Department of Energy Grants to States – $530 million annually.
  • Title Xx Family Planning – $318 million annually.
  • Federal Office Space Acquisition – $864 million annually.
  • Repeal of the David-Bacon Act – $1 billion annually.
  • Repeal of Obamacare – $1.0 billion annually

Elimination of Government wasteful spending in itself could eliminate the need to extend the Nation’s debt limit.  Instead of forcing the President to cut spending, Senate Mitch McConnell is suggesting that Congress support increasing the limit by $2.5 trillion through the 2012 elections.  This action in essence is unconstitutional and gives that authority(the power of the purse) to the Executive  Branch, instead of Congress, and to his Majesty Barack Obama.

The President is using the budget and debt limit crisis as his ticket to re-election and furthering the transition fo America from a democratic Representative Republic  to a European Socialist style democracy.  The artificial deadlines set by Obama are a mythical drop-dead date made to make him appear as in control of a situation which he has no conception of how to solve.

Congress must stand firm and accept no increase in the debt limit without substantial cost cutting to specific programs coupled with a Balanced Budget Amendment, and no increases in taxes; anything short of these major  reforms will ultimately lead to the Destruction of America.

Time For Obama’s Actions to Reflect his Words!

By: Richard H. Frank

Barack Obama’s address to the White House press corps this morning concerning the release of his birth certificate, which was a distraction (his words) to his efforts to solve America’s problems, puts him on the spot to seriously solve the nations economic ills.

So now Mister President let’s get serious (again your words) and take the initiative to address the following National issues:

  • Adopt a cohesive, comprehensive energy policy that takes the initiative against the Mideast oil cartels to manipulate oil prices. Lift the moratorium against exploration and drilling in the U.S., and issue permits currently held up in bureaucratic agencies immediately.
  • Stop vilifying any individual, political party or private organization that takes issue with your agenda. Demonizing  the Oil, Gas and Coal industries, and calling political opponents like Donald Trump a sideshow carnival barker in lieu of a debate of the issues is less than presidential.
  • Adopt a budget plan, or legislation, that assures fiscal responsibility for the future national budgets including addressing entitlements, tax reform and deficit spending.
  • Stop the use of and repeal executive orders that circumvent Congress and are not authorized under the Constitution that impose onerous regulations on “We the People” in support of any political ideology.
  • Restore the Constitutional authority guaranteed to every State under the 10th Amendment to the Constitution and limit the size and scope of the Federal Government to those powers enumerated in the Constitution.
Mr. President, these are the issues affecting the very existence of our Republic and the well-being of every American. You are now on record again as of 9:45 am, April 27, 2011 to address the above issues and get serious about their solutions.
Once again America has heard his rhetoric, but we won’t hold our breath waiting for leadership to come from our neophyte President, Barack Obama. After all he is above such detailed analysis and solutions and will just delegate the problems to one of his Czars to come up with some progressive, Marxist pipe dream to tax our way out of these problems  and  the next crisis.

Obama’s Agends is America’s Tsunami!

By: Richard H. Frank

Over the past four years, beginning with the Presidential Campaign for the 2008 election we have listened to both political parties proclaim that the economy and job creation was the number one priority for their administration should they be elected. The American public was forced to listen to the hollow promises of “Hope and Change” that would fundamentally change America and the world should Obama’s liberal progressive agenda be adopted. Since that time (2009) what have we endured as a nation?

  • Average retail price of gasoline has increased 100% from $1.83 in 2009 to $3.66 today.
  • Crude Oil price/barrel increased 135% and we still lack a cohesive energy policy.
  • Unemployment rate continues to hover between 9 and 10% even with the government’s alteration in the method for calculating the number.
  • Number of food stamp recipients increased by 22% and rising.
  • Number of long term underemployed 146.2% increase.
  • Government’s solution to spend our way to recovery has increased the national debt by 32.2% to reach $14.0 trillion.
  • Over 6 million homes currently in foreclosure in spite or TARP monies given to the banks to implement mortgage loan modification programs.
  • Our health care industry costs continuing the upward spiral out of control due to the liberal progressives ramming the unpopular legislation dubbed “Obama care” down the throats of Americans over their overwhelming objections.

The travesty to all of these situations is that they are the result of our Federal Government overstepping the enumerated powers defined in our Constitution. The first 5 items listed above could be immediately impacted and reversed if the Federal Government and its agencies would get out of the way of the free enterprise system and develop a comprehensive energy policy for America that does not change with every congressional and presidential election. Energy independence for America will result in establishing a free market price for oil and not that controlled by Mideast cartels.

The $816 billion that was spent on stimulus by the Administration and the 111th Congress accomplished just one thing. That was to create a 2% increase in government sector jobs; jobs which must be paid for with the sweat of those Americans working in the private sector.

Today, the announcement was made that the housing market reached its lowest level in the past 9 years. The resulting loss in equity to those seniors that have invested in their homes while raising their families in order to provide for a return after retirement find themselves facing a future without an equity nest-egg with which to supplement retirement and in many cases foreclosure as the banks refuse to respond to their request for loan modifications.

Lastly, we now are finding out what is in the “Affordable Health Care Law” forced upon every American as part of the “Hope and Change” agenda of this administration. Each and every argument set forth in opposition to this law is now proving to be true. Twenty-six states are suing the Federal Government for the law either being unconstitutional or for its violation of the 10th Amendment provision upholding States sovergnity.

The mid-term elections of 2010 expressed the will of the people against continued uncontrolled spending and limiting the size of the Federal Government. Yet, just four short months following that election, Congress and the President, act as though the election never took place and are conducting business as usual.  There are 31% of Americans that approve of the Presidents management of our economy. The remaining 69% are tired of his unending platitudes and proclamations that jobs and the economy are his number one priority and that we must stop spending when he continues to proceed without a budget for 2011 and has the nerve to present a $3.7 trillion proposal to Congress for 2012 that contains an additional $1.6 trillion deficit.

If stupidity, or doubletalk, could be considered a high crime or misdemeanor we would have cause to remove this unqualified novice from office. Unfortunately, we must rely upon the 112th Congress to keep him in check.  Many will say that we are destined for gridlock as long as Harry Reid sets the agenda in the Senate. I would gladly endure the next two years of gridlock until we can replaced Obama, Reid, Pelosi and RINOs who refuse to take the hard decisions to address the budget and unsustainable entitlements that have bankrupted this once great nation, and elect men of principle to put America on a course to true recovery.

The Baby-Boomer Generation – Americas New Underclass!

By: Richard H. Frank

Seventy-six million babies were born in the US between 1946 and 1964, a span of 19 years. According to the 2000 census 72 million of these babies have survived and are eligible to begin receiving full Social Security benefits in 2011 and it is expected that an average of 3.0 million will be added to the roles with each successive year. These individuals have paid into the SS system their entire working lives and some will continue to support the system over the next 20 years.

The average benefit paid to recipients is just under $1200.00 / month with those receiving disability benefits approximately $1100.00 / month. Annually that equates to about $14,400/ year slightly above the poverty level. The poverty level for all states in the U.S. for the 2009/2010 timeframe was set at $10,830 for an individual and $14,570 for a family of 2 persons. Assuming the CPI for food and energy continues to increase at an annual average rate of 5.0%, which is not included in the cost of living inflation rate, there will be substantial erosion to the fixed benefits paid to recipients and ultimately force them closer to the poverty level.

According to government estimates there were 44 million Americans living below the poverty level in 2009, or approximately 14% of the population. Most baby boomers retiring have no pensions, or at best limited IRAs, upon which to supplement their Social Security benefits. The largest investment made during their working lives was the equity built through the purchase of their homes. That equity has been diminished substantially by the recent crash of the real estate market. Those retirees that do not own their homes will bear the additional inflated costs to provide shelter for their families in addition to the uncontrollable inflated costs of food and energy.

Government, not the individual, is the problem with regard to having a sustainable Social Security safety net.  Social progressives have looted the mythical Social Security lock box of more than $2.5 trillion dollars for programs never intended to be funded under the original law. Today we have created an unsustainable Ponzi scheme in an attempt to redistribute wealth and level the playing field for all residents instead of creating a safety net for those seniors that have contributed to the system and are in real need.

Over time inflation and hyper- inflation will create a new underclass in America. That underclass will consist of illegal aliens, retirees and the growing numbers of baby boomers attaining retirement age over the coming twenty years.

The feeble attempts made by Congress to revise the SS system will only result in compounding the situation over the long run. The real answer is to limit the government influence over achieving energy independence in America as the stimulus that will drive efficient job creation and a resultant thriving economy. Government over- regulation of the free enterprise system in America must be reduced to the level of assuring safety and protecting against fraud. The reality is that Big Government has created Big Problems all of which were foreseen by our founding Fathers and warned against when drafting our constitution. Government must return to the values and principles ascribed to by the founders.

Unfortunately, there is an entire generation of Americans that will spend their “Golden Years” experiencing  a substantially reduced standard of living from that which they were anticipating all the years of their working lives.

Our Nation in Peril from Government Policies!

By: Richard H. Frank

What has become of the American dream? That picture of a future that included the opportunity, not the right, for any individual to achieve their personal vision of what that dream constitutes. Most Americans of my generation would have described the dream to include the following:

  • The opportunity and choice to secure a good education either academically or vocationally.
  • To be able to provide a better standard of living for our families than that which our parents or grandparents had experienced.
  • The opportunity to own a home that would always be the shelter and sanctuary for our family.
  • The freedom to pursue any endeavor we might chose, including acceptance of the consequences associated with failure.
  • The right to openly participate in and express the religious doctrine of my choice without interference from any individual or government agency.

There are two elements present in each and every aspect of the American dream as described above. First is the reliance on the individual willing to work and pay the price to achieve any and all aspects of that dream. Second, is the limited role of government to provide the opportunity for the individual and to shield that opportunity from undue outside influences.

Unfortunately, over the past 60 years government has expanded their role to become paternalistic with regard to achieving “equality” and “social justice” as opposed to “opportunity” and “justice under the law.” Those individuals that we have elected to represent “We the People” somehow believe that they have been elevated to a position of the “ruling class” and are entitled to meet out opportunity and freedom to the electorate to satisfy their vision of the American dream.

The law of unintended consequences ultimately prevails and results in stifling opportunity and eroding our individual freedoms. More damage has been done to this nation from well intentioned politicians that believe they can legislate morality and equality than from all the natural disasters in America since this nation’s founding.

Today we find ourselves on the brink of the worst economic disaster in over a century predicated on laws passed largely by unthinking legislators willing to rely upon the tenants of Keynesian economics to cure all the Nations ills. The anti-capitalist, anti-free enterprise policies of the congress over the past 10 years and redistributive agenda of the Obama administration bear testimony to the destructive impact they have had on the nation. The outlook for our country is bleak and the prospect of returning to prosperity where we may once again pursue the American dream may now be decades away if to ever be realized again.

Today senior citizens who have relied on the equity built in their real estate investments have seen that equity evaporate and may never return in their lifetime. The dream of spending their “Golden Years” with a sense of security no longer exists. This is directly due to government interference in the mortgage loan industry over the past decade.

Young people view our Social Security System as the greatest Ponzi scheme ever imposed upon a country. They see how Congresses of past decades have raided and squandered the Social Security lock box in the cause of “social justice” at the tune of $2.4 trillion and believe they will never see any portion of their contributions returned.

At one point in history full employment was considered achieved when 95-96% of the workforce was employed. The new norm for full employment according to the revised Obama administration methods for calculating is more closely aligned to 90% employed. This means those working individuals will carry the burden for the 10% of the unemployed workforce and more likely 20% if the under employed are included.

Once again we bear witness to the law of unintended consequences as we see the impact of the 2400 page “Affordable Health Care Legislation” passed by the 111th Congress and signed into law by President Obama. All of the pledges made by President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are being exposed as the great lies forced upon the American public. It has now been confirmed that costs will rise, coverage will be rationed, and the first step toward a government run single -payer system (nationalized health care) is being taken. All this done under the guise of reducing the national debt, bending the cost curve downward and insuring 30 million uninsured Americans. All these statements exposed as lies and predicted as such when an administration of idealogues and a corrupt Congress continue to govern against the will of the people.

The cancer of liberal progressive ideology has moved our nation to the brink of becoming a socialist welfare state. Changing the dangerous course our country is on will be painful to say the least. That pain will be felt at every level of our society and paid for in terms of altering future entitlement programs and stopping the out of control government spending as we return to the constitutional limitations placed on the Federal Government. The power brokers and special interests that influence Washington can and must be removed through the election of representatives that will speak and vote with the voice of their constituents.

One election will not cure the cancer and it may take a decade or more of intense treatment, likened to chemotherapy, by holding our elected representatives responsible to the electorate to finally cure and rid the Federal Government of those persons governing outside the constraints of our Constitution. Should “We the People” fail to take action and remain vigilant at holding government accountable, the once great American dream will never be realized again by our children or grandchildren.

Set yourself above party politics, educate yourself as to the real issues, and place only those people in government office that support the values and principles ascribed within the American dream. Take the step now toward taking back our country for “We the People” and vote on November 2, 2010.

Demise of Our Republic!

By: Richard H. Frank

Most senior citizens today have lived through and experienced at least ten (10) Presidents of the United States and their administrations. My personal experience spans the governance of 13 Presidents, seven of which were Democrats and six Republicans. Unfortunately, at least five of the Democrats were inspired by varying degrees to support progressive, statist ideology and resulted in the explosion of the size and influence of the Federal Government over the States and the individual. Civil Rights raised its head during the Kennedy administration and threatened to split the nation. Thankfully, the Constitution prevailed, and although painful to many people, the rights of the individual against discrimination took root and gained acceptance over time.

The rapid slide toward socialism accelerated under Lynden Johnson’s administration and Congress enacted laws mandating quotas for education and in employment based on race and gender, all under the banner of creating “The Great Society” and “The War on Poverty”.

The seeds were planted in the 1960’s for the statists to establish the roots of progressive policy in government leading up to the Obama administrations push to harvest the fruits of socialism in America. These seeds have germinated for the past 50 years and like crabgrass spread throughout the landscape of both political parties in America. The results of progressive policy may be seen in unsustainable mandates for our social welfare programs including Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, the national debt which will soon exceed 14 trillion dollars and place a millstone of taxes on generations yet unborn to payback and the continued erosion of the very Constitutional principles that made America great.

Today, for all practical purposes the 10th amendment to the Constitution has been legislated null and void by Congress and a corrupt judiciary. Private enterprise and our free market system of economics are being smothered through regulation and government mandates. The Federal Government would rather sue the States than to perform their sworn duty to uphold the law and recognize the will of the people. The rule of law in America has been severely wounded and is being subverted by activist judges making decisions based on political considerations as opposed to the law.

The political ruling elite treat Americans like small children and continue to spout their ideological rhetoric in spite of the obvious facts and truth regarding progressive, Marxist policy coming out of the Obama administration. This past weekend the President stated that Medicare was more financially stable than in the past due to changes contained in the “Affordable Health Care Reform” signed into law this year. His claim that costs would drop due to elimination of fraud and waste and the $550 billion cut in the program were refuted by the Medicare actuaries. Yet, Obama continues to spout these absurd statements. Even the most gullible among us understands we cannot insure 30 million additional people, accept all preexisting conditions and reduce costs at the same time. The closer we get to the mid-term election the more ridiculous statements will flow from the Obama administration. Statements like “we have created or saved 3 million jobs” and taxes will not be raised on anyone earning less than $200,000.

The more Federal Government legislates how we are to live the more liberty we are forced to relinquish. Should “We the People” fail to make changes in Congress and our State governments in November to halt the statists, our sovereignty will pass from the individual to and all-powerful “Federal Government” and signal the demise of our Republic.
