Revenge of the Swamp People!

By: Richard H. Frank

Seven months have passed since Donald J. Trump was sworn in as our 45th President. The Libertyssong Blog has remained silent with regard to the circus created by the media, Democrats in Congress, the RINOS in the Republican Party and, yes, the Trump administration including the President himself. Charges of collusion with the Russians by the Trump campaign and the ensuing Congressional investigations are nothing more than a smoke screen and delaying tactic to prevent the administration from pursuit of the agenda for America upon which Trump was elected. Millions upon millions of dollars are being spent by the Special Counsel Mueller to pursue a which hunt in search of some infraction by anyone associated with the Trump Campaign in any manner whatsoever. Meanwhile the media has lost all credibility whatssoever with the public in their effort to overturn the vote of the people by publishing uncollaborated reports of unconstitutional actions taken by the President that rise to the level requiring his impeachment.

To make matters worse President Trump uses his twitter account to respond to the BS and loses the focus on that which is important to the American people.

The real scandal lies within the hallowed halls of Congress and rests squarely on the shoulders of the Republicans who for seven years shouted for the immediate repeal and replacement of “The Affordable Care Act” better known as “Obamacare”. All their excuses for being unable to fulfill their promise to repeal this disastrous law disappeared with the election of Donald Trump. Yet suddenly when it comes to putting their money (or future reelection) where their mouths are, they have choked. Whatever happened to all the plans they put forward when the ACA was being forced down the throat of those they were supposed to represent, such as being able to purchase insurance across state lines, making insurance transferrable from job tho job, and tort reform all of which were supposed to reduce premiums for the average American.

So here we sit seven months into the Trump presidency bogged down in Russian investigations for interfering in our elections, alleged collusion by the Tump campaign with Russia to defeat Hillary Clinton when it is she and her campaign that should be investigated for the numerous felonies committed on her behalf.

So let’s turn to the “Swamp People” for a minute. These are the Establishment in Washington D.C. that are members of the ruling elite class that includes members of Congress from both parties, agency bureaucrats, and government professionals. For these individuals Trump represents a threat to their very existence and power. They view Trump as an outsider having no business mettling in their affairs nor how they should decide to conduct the business within their own agencies. They will not only resist any form of legislation that moves the Trump agenda forward but will challenge every executive action in that liberal court system to block efforts to uphold federal law including immigration, sanctuary cities and law enforcement.

If you doubt the existence of the “Swamp People” just look at what has occurred in the Senate with regard to repealing Obamacare. We have the Freedom caucus, the Tuesday caucus, Rand Paul, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski the entire Democrat minority and don’t forget John McCain casting the deciding vote against a bill that was designed to forge a compromise between the House and Senate that allowed for amendments in an effort to give relief to those Americans that can neither afford the massive premiums or deductibles resulting from the Affordable Care Act.

Congress by virtue of the entrenched ruling class no longer represents the people that elected them. To hell with the American voter! They will tell us whatever we want to hear at election time and then do whatever the hell benefits themselves most when it comes to passing legislation. If you doubt what I am saying just wait until “Tax Reform” and “Infrastructure Spending” comes before them for a vote. I won’t hold my breath waiting for them to adopt the “Trump Agenda.”

It’s long past time for we the “American Voter” to “Drain the Swamp” and insist upon term limits in Congress. Four terms in the House of Representatives and two in the Senate followed by a mandatory one term interval before a candidate may seek reelection will do wonders to drain the swamp of corruption and dead wood resulting from an institution made up of professional politicians sucking off the teat of the taxpaying citizenry.

Although I don’t agree with all of Trump’s methods I do agree with the objective of his agenda “To Make America Great Again”.

Trump Delivers 1000 Cuts to Obama and his Administration!

By: Richard H. Frank

Just 30 days after the historic election of Donald J. Trump to become our 45th President on January 20, 2017 the President-Elect is proving how inept Obama and his administration have been for the past eight years. Obama boasted that he had a “phone and a pen” as the tools with which to conduct his imperial Presidency. The rash of executive orders and thousands of regulations imposed on the citizenry during his reign have been devastating to the American economy and the very security of the nation. Political correctness has reached its pinnacle where truth may not be spoken to power without the fear of reprisal and being labeled as a bigot or racist. “American exceptionalism” are not words to be found in the vocabulary of the Obama administration.

Yet today we are witnessing a movement, spurred on by the forgotten American led by Trump, aimed at restoring this nation to its former place among the leading nations of the world. The mantra “America First” can be heard resounding from the heartland of this great country. Donald Trump, even before he assumes the Office of President, has accomplished more by picking up the phone and calling business leaders and asking for their help to restore jobs than all the executive actions and regulations imposed by Obama over the past eight years. American voters are wise to the distortions and manipulation of data used by Obama and the liberal media to create a record based on lies regarding the Affordable Care Act, aka “Obamacare,” climate change and job creation under his watch. “We the People” are sick and tired of the corrupt Washington establishment and are watching closely as Trump chooses his cabinet and selects people who will take action in his quest to “drain the swamp” of the parasites residing in the hallowed halls of Government.

There are talkers and there are doers both of which aspire to make changes for the better and lead our Country. The major difference between talkers and doers may be summed up in a simple exercise taught by Dale Carnegie. It goes something like this: “I know men in the ranks who will stay in the ranks. Why? I’ll tell you why. Simply because they haven’t the ability to get things done.” Barack Obama should have stayed in the ranks as one that talks a great deal and accomplishes little. Donald J. Trump on the other hand is proving that he is able to get things done.

His agenda for the first 100 days in office is substantial and geared to pave the way for economic recovery, job creation in the private sector, infrastructure rebuilding, restoring our military and returning to a nation under the rule of law. Every action planned under his agenda is another cut of a thousand that will move toward Making America Great Again.

Corruption By Any Other Name

By: Richard H. Frank

Politicians and the Washington spin doctors are very creative at turning a phrase to avoid calling a particular act by one of their associates exactly what it truly is. For instance the President never tells a lie. He may have misspoken or his words may have been taken out of context or twisted to achieve some particular agenda in support of his ideology. Corruption, High Crimes and Misdemeanors, bribery and outright graft are all ignored and classified under the heading of “crony capitalism” or “it’s the right thing to do” in the case of such perceived social injustices as illegal immigration, gay marriage and abortion. When something goes wrong or takes an unexpected turn for the worse as the result of Government action “unintended consequences are always to blame and not the ideology behind the action. Take Obamacare for example. The law was to provide health care for over thirty million uninsured Americans at reduced costs for every family. Instead after five years of confusion in the medical industry accounting for 1/6th of the economy we find premiums and deductibles have skyrocketed and real care diminished with over thirty million Americans still uninsured. Obama has ignored the provisions of the law and by fiat altered the language without congressional action to meet his political initiatives. All of his actions are in direct violation of the Constitution. The same is true for Obama’s executive actions with regard to immigration and if not for the action of one Federal Judge we would be on the verge of amnesty for every illegal immigrant presently in the United States and establishment of an open border policy for the country. “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” The nuclear negotiations underway with Iran for the past two and one-half years are the perfect example of this foregoing quotation. We have a President obsessed with creating his legacy having failed to do so in his Presidency for the past six years. His statement that “Iran would never possess a Nuclear weapon on his watch” did not include any provision against his providing them with the path to acquiring that weapon after he left office. When pressured by Congress to give them final approval of any agreement (treaty) reached during the negotiations the talks are suddenly characterized as being a non-binding agreement not subject to Congressional approval as required by the Constitution. Additionally, Obama seems to think he can unilaterally remove sanctions imposed by act of Congress without their legislating that action. Now we have Hillary Clinton’s in-your-face violation of State Department rules and law regarding disclosure of her emails while serving as Secretary of State. She arrogantly contends that she was entitled to use a non-governmental controlled server to archive her emails and she alone had the authority to determine which of those communications were private and those that belonged to “we the people”. She holds herself above the law and takes refuge behind the Clinton Foundation on matters having the appearance of corruption. The Justice Department turns a blind eye to her actions contending that others in prior administrations disregarded the rules and protocols in place and thus it is no big deal. The latest revelations about Hillary and the Clinton Foundation involved in influence peddling while she held the position of Secretary of State have all the earmarks of corruption and enhancing the financial rewards to the Foundation and of the Clintons personally. Coincidence, I think not but without any evidence to the contrary the Clinton’s will just hunker down and wait for this storm to pass just as they have before on other scandals. Unfortunately, corruption is not the sole provence of the Democrats in office but can be found on both sides of the aisle in Congress and in the massive Federal bureaucracy consisting of agencies within our government. As long as the electorate in America remains apathetic and does not insist that our laws are to be enforced we open ourselves and this country up to corruption for which we must bear the expense. An expense not only in the form of dollars but in the loss of our very liberty. Corruption by any other name still stinks.

50 Years After Smoking Warning – Where are We?

by Jayne D. Frank

50 Years after the Surgeon General’s report on the adverse effects of smoking we hear reports of how that report saved 8 million people from premature deaths who since have quit. These reports obscure and ignore the real facts and problems with smoking in 2014:

1) Because of population increase in the U.S., smokers have actually increased and the number of young people smoking has not decreased.

2) Only a handful of states actually have any “meaningful” laws protecting non-smokers from second-hand smoke in public places (workplace, restaurants, bars, etc.);

3) The propaganda on E-cigarettes is misleading inasmuch as they contain carcinogens which can lead to cancer, hardly an improvement over regular cigarettes;

4) Insurance companies do NOTHING to penalize smokers by way of higher premiums. Health care costs in this Country have spiraled out of control and one of the most prominent reasons is the cost of care for chronically ill people with sicknesses directly attributable to smoking has increased dramatically. You will hear arguments from smokers that the cost of treatment for non-smokers exceeds that of smokers, and the argument cannot be made truthfully. NON-SMOKERS JUST LIVE LONGER so they could require longer medical care! This smokescreen is most apparent when you look at what Obamacare does and doesn’t do with potential enrollees. The enrollment form asks you “whether” you smoke, but does nothing to increase smoker’s premiums, and in fact, many if not most smokers will be off the hook for paying anything and will be thrown in Medicaid or subsidized, both on the backs of others.

5) Entitlements in this country have soared over the last 50 years and especially during the Obama Administration and we taxpayers continue to “give” welfare checks and unemployment checks to smokers who run out and pay hundreds of dollars a month for cigarettes.

6) The cost of treating asthma in this Country is dramatically increasing every year, and how many of these asthma cases came about by children having to be around and live with people who smoked every day?

The rhetoric is all well and good about possibly saving 8 million people from premature deaths by having them quit, but nothing substantial has happened in this war on smoking over the past several years. Smokers have rights, but they have NO right to take taxpayer money for their habit, they have NO right to drain the healthcare system in this country, they have NO right to cause everyone’s insurance costs to go up because of them, and they still have NO right to interfere with my rights not to breathe this stuff.

This is not just an opinionated blog without any basis or knowledge. I personally went through years and years taking care of 2 parents whose diseases from smoking literally took their life’s breath away and deteriorated every organ in their body. Their quality of life during the last ten years was deplorable and the way their bodies were ravaged was ugly. I got really disgusted at having to endure the countless doctors showing me photos of my dad’s lung cancer as it progressed and x-rays of lungs that had no air sacs left to breathe. They were both on expensive continuous oxygen and couldn’t get around at the end without wheelchairs. My sister who was in the prime of her life but acquired the life-long habit of smoking 3 packs a day from my parents, died of an aneurysm and strokes, but only 5 years after being completely paralyzed from those events. I am deeply disappointed in the recent court decision that did not mandate that these graphic pictures be shown on cigarette packages. I guess “reality shows” are just relegated to the television now.

More importantly I saw the bills that came in from Medicare and my sister’s insurance companies for her long-term care. A typical 3-day hospital visit for one of my parents in 1997 ran over $80,000. Who paid for that? We all did.

The personal side of this for me is that I was subjected to second-hand smoke my entire life as a child and because both my son and I took care of my parents, we were subjected even further to the effects of being around my parents, and guess what? They continued to smoke up until their death because they said “we have rights.”

The Stampede to Socialism in America!

by Richard H. Frank

As 2014 begins every American needs to look back at what has occurred in this Country over the past 5 years under Barack Obama’s Presidency and his Administration. Never in my lifetime have I witnessed a more inept, incompetent and corrupt Administration aided by those in Congress hell-bent on the destruction of the very fabric upon which this Republic was founded, Our Constitution!

We have a President who has no qualms about looking Americans directly in the eye and lying to them over and over again. When the facts do not support his assertions and agenda he and his Administration just change the facts thinking the more they expound on fallacious information eventually we stupid Americans will believe the rhetoric.

How slow are Americans in realizing what is taking place before our very eyes? From stimulus spending and non-existent shovel-ready jobs, to failed green energy programs, to the spring of recovery in 2009, to Benghazi being the result of a video and on and on again. Yet in the upcoming State of the Union Address our majestic President will be sure to take credit for equally unreal achievements such as the bogus decline in unemployment and the surge in American energy production and exports and of course his signature accomplishment “The Affordable Care Act” aka “Obamacare.” Thus far every promise he has made concerning healthcare is either being proven untrue or at best exaggerated.

Then we have Congress, the People’s voice and representative to bring checks and balances against an oppressive Executive Branch of Government. The voice of the People has been muted through Congress supporting the Socialist’s agenda of Obama and his Administration by extension of entitlement spending unabated.

Today we have unemployment benefits extended for up to 99 weeks, food stamp programs increased by over 70%, health care costs now forecast to be three times that projected when the ACA was originally passed and welfare programs expanded to illegal aliens at unprecedented rates. All of these programs are being paid for with money this Country and the Obama Administration doesn’t have. Instead we just borrow the money and pass the soon to be $18 trillion debt on to our children and grandchildren.

The Rule of Law has been substituted by the rule through Executive decree or administrative regulations issued by unelected bureaucrats in various agencies of the Federal Government; i.e., the Department of Labor, the Environmental Protection Agency, Homeland Security, the National Security Agency and the Department of Justice. Many of these regulations are aimed at suppression of the free enterprise system and usurping the very freedoms conferred upon each of us under the Bill of Rights.

President Ronald Reagan warned that the first step toward destruction of the Republic would be a move towards socialized medicine. Obamacare is that first step and must be repealed before the roots of socialism take root and like an invasive vine choke the life from our Nation.

In the 1960s Nikita Khrushchev warned that America could not be destroyed by any attack from abroad but would eventually be destroyed from within. Now some 5 years later those of us old enough to remember his words bear witness to “the stampede to Socialism.” Unless “We the People” intervene and change the representation we elect to Congress the Liberal Progressives will assure the eventual “transformation of America” to a European social democracy as has been publicly declared by Barack Obama.

The Declaration of Independence holds the answer as to how “We the People” can prevent this oppressive Government from subverting our Constitution and freedom. Take heed America!

Seniors Being Set Up by Affordable Care Act

by Jayne D. Frank

The Affordable Care Act and advocates of it, repeatedly say seniors will not be affected by the Act. The last thing the Government needs, especially among the chaos now created by their Healthcare.gov site not working for other Americans, is to have seniors question what will happen with their care. We all received a slice of this “preview” this week in the news when several elderly people in their 80s were interviewed because they have been told their doctor will not be in their plans anymore and they would have to find other doctors.

In other states, seniors who have regular Medicare and pay for their own Medigap coverage are being sent repeated letters during “open enrollment” now going on, that Medicare Advantage might “be a better option for you.” Really? A better option when the Congressional Budget Office projected that the Affordable Care Act will result in 3 million fewer people enrolled in Medicare Advantage and that the health insurance tax (also from ACA) will result in seniors facing $220 in higher out-of-pocket costs and reduced benefits next year and $3500 in additional costs over the next ten years. (reference ahip.org/issues/Medicare-Advantage). All you have to do is do your own research, read between the lines and see that it is eventually the intention of insurers to have their senior subscribers shift to Medicare Advantage and then be dropped because of the cut to doctors participating in Medicare Advantage, all as a direct result of Obamacare.

Those in Medigap policies cannot be assured of continued coverage either or at least good quality care. Just read the Medicare.gov site under “coordinating your care” where it states you can “always see any doctor or healthcare provider who accepts Medicare, AND accepts these programs;” namely Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and/or Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative, two programs which severely compromise your quality of care, take the decision-making away from you and your doctor, and put cuts on what kind of services you “should” be getting in the future. The aim is to coordinate your healthcare between you, your doctor, and every agency or board that will be involved in the Obamacare law. They will be following the “Choosing Wisely Initiative” which targets the issue of “inappropriate” or “overused” tests and procedures for seniors, all the way from bone density tests to cardiac procedures” for which “drug treatment works as well as surgical intervention.” (ref: Washington Post: Inappropriate Procedures are Expensive and Risky.) This Choosing Wisely Initiative will probably be used in the media as a substitute for the death panels in Obamacare, all done in the name of “fraud prevention.”

Seniors are our real “treasure” in this country – they are our mothers and our fathers, our mentors and our inventors. They have worked at steady jobs for many decades so that the young people in America can have a more prosperous and fulfilling life. Will the millions of seniors in this Country start waking up to what is happening and get involved in making sure that we try to repair the destruction happening in our healthcare system? Seniors may not have the strongest bodies anymore – but their intelligence is intact and their voices are strong and must be heard.
