Does anyone in the mainstream media or the liberal establishment actually READ what Healthcare.gov says for those not signing up by the end of today for healthcare insurance? The answer is obviously “no” and the exemptions are staggering to contemplate.
TAX PENALTY: You will NOT be penalized 1) if you are uninsured less than 3 months, 2) coverage would cost more than 8% of your household income, 3) if your income is too low to file a tax return, 4) if you are a member of a tribe, 5) if you are a member of a health-care sharing ministry, 6), you are a member of a RECOGNIZED religious sect (but not the Sisters of the Poor), 7) you are incarcerated, 8) you are not LAWFULLY PRESENT in the U.S.
What the above says that basically anyone living below poverty will be covered automatically if you get sick and need to be treated in a hospital JUST AS THINGS WERE BEFORE OBAMACARE, but higher income people and especially seniors who had $716 billion taken out of their Medicare system over the next 10 years, will be paying for these people.
It also says that if you are in prison, you will still be covered automatically at the expense of the taxpayers JUST AS THINGS WERE BEFORE OBAMACARE. It also says that anyone President Obama “deems” to be here legally with a stroke of his pen, will not have to pay any penalty, and they too will be treated automatically if they go to a hospital, JUST AS THINGS WERE BEFORE OBAMACARE.
If you read the list of hardships, it too covers the vast majority of Americans who “will claim” these hardships:
You have a hardship if 1) you have had a shut-off notice from a utility company, 2) you are “facing eviction or foreclosure…”, 3) you recently experienced domestic violence, 4) you experienced a death of a close family member, 5) you filed for bankruptcy in the last 6 months, you had a medical expense you couldn’t pay in the last 24 months, 6) you experienced unexpected increases in necessary expenses due to caring for someone, 7) you should have been able to enroll but were not able to, 8) your state didn’t expand Medicaid so you were determined ineligible on Healthcare.gov, 9) your plan was cancelled and healthcare.gov plans are too expensive, or 10) you experienced another hardship in obtaining health coverage.
The above hardship exemptions would cover tens of millions of Americans, mostly those at the lowest wage-earning ends of American society.
What Obamacare, or the ACA, has become, is nothing more than a MASSIVE REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH in this Country. This was supposed to be all about the middle class for Barack Obama and his Progressive friends, but not about sustaining the middle class as it has always been described. His new definition of the middle class is putting everyone making $75,000 or less in this country at the bottom of the socio-economic class in this country and making everyone else pay for the cost of their healthcare. You notice there is no exemption, hardship or otherwise, for a person who is working 60-80 hours a week but is too busy trying to work and take care of their family that they didn’t have time to enroll. Nor is any person (young or older) exempted who makes a good salary but uses that money to save for their retirement, make investments, and support themselves so they are not on the public dole.
This is truly remarkable and pathetic that the Country I love has come to this and there is no visible protest from the American people or media about the real issues of Obamacare. Forget the fact that the White House will not reveal any of its numbers on sign ups; the underlying wealth distribution is THE one real issue that matters.
