I never thought in the 75th year of my life I would bear witness to the destruction of America as I have known it. Barack Obama and his administration, aided by loyalists such as Harry Reid and the Democratic-controlled Senate, have done more to “fundamentally change America” in a mere five years than the Communists could achieve in 50 years of the Cold War.
The hypocrisy demonstrated by Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Harry Reid and the endless list of Democrats who bitterly opposed the threat of invoking the nuclear option by Republicans in 2005 as a power grab is astounding. Now in 2013 with the President under pressure from vulnerable Senate progressives seeking re-election in 2014 and the fallout for his deliberate lying to America on Obamacare, he endorses the use of the nuclear option to save his Presidency by Harry Reid. You cannot help but make comparisons to the loosely organized, highly effective propaganda machine that surrounded Hitler and guaranteed his agenda.
Congress and We the People have stood by and watched as the President trampled the Constitution over and over again and usurped Constitutional powers specifically reserved for Congress. He refuses to enforce laws he considers contrary to his ideology and imposes his will to rewrite laws he is sworn to uphold.
For those of us that are students of history the parallels between Barack Obama and his administration’s rise to power are frighteningly similar to that of Adolph Hitler and the Nazi Party. When Obama’s agenda is stifled by the Minority in Congress, the majority, like a child unable to get its’ way Obama suddenly defends changing Senate Rules that have been in effect for over 200 years to allow a simple Majority vote of 51 Senators to approve Judicial Appointments instead of the traditional Super Majority required in the Federalist Papers by our Founders.
If allowed to stand, the nuclear option will surely be extended to passage of any legislation and ultimately to Supreme Court appointments. This action by the Senate virtually eliminates the voice of the Minority in the Senate from demanding debate on Presidential appointments. Obama and his loyalists will go on to push through ill-conceived legislation on a whole myriad of topics such as amnesty, redistribution of assets, gun control and climate and energy, all designed to finish Obama’s vision of his “fundamental change.”
The list of Constitutional abuses by Barack Obama and his Administration goes on and on from his use of Executive Orders to Rules and Regulations imposed by various Governmental agencies by unelected political appointees and career bureaucrats that adversely restrict economic growth and rob every citizen of our unalienable rights.
I, like many Americans, believe in the tenants of our Representative Republic and have championed using the ballot box as the vehicle to take back our Country from the sinister group of Alinsky progressive liberals and their socialist agenda. However, I am no longer certain We the People can wait for the two and four-year election cycle to change the makeup of Congress such that checks and balances can be maintained to prevent Obama’s quest to “fundamentally change America!”
We the People should embark upon an immediate PETITION DRIVE TO RECALL every Senator that voted in favor of the nuclear option. The message must be sent now in a loud clear voice that unless the Senate Rule for a Super Majority vote is reinstated that those responsible for supporting the nuclear option are in peril of RECALL notwithstanding their status in the upcoming 2014 mid-term elections.
The argument that the only way to break gridlock in Washington is to eliminate the threat of filibuster in the Senate and move the Administration’s agenda forward is the nuclear option is fallacious. A perfect example is how devastating legislation such as the “Affordable Care Act” or “Obamacare” is passed using a simple majority vote by manipulating the Senate Rules.
We have a Federal Government and an Administration completely out of control and out of touch with We the People. The action taken by the Senate on November 21, 2013 is one more nail in the coffin of our Representative Republic and the move to a European-style democracy where mob rule replaces the Rule of Law.
