The Enemy Within!

by Richard H. Frank

Fifty years ago, Nikita Khrushchev said ” America shall destroy from within” when referring to the capitalist system of the United States of  America.  Most Americans just smiled and laughed at the thought that America could ever become governed by a Marxist system or ideology.  It seems, however, that the socialists and liberal progressives are a patient lot and have created a political cancer in the form of massive entitlement and welfare programs, coupled with rewriting history within our public school system and an unrelenting attack on our free enterprise system aimed at furthering their Marxist agenda.

Then in 2008 along came Barack Obama and his political campaign of “Change You Can Believe In.”  That change is “to fundamentally change America.”  With the aid of the 111th Congress, his policies and legislative agenda have furthered governance against the will of “We the People” and is implementing his Marxist-driven agenda with the aid of his own private army of Czars appointed without the consent of the Senate and accountable to no one other than the President himself.

From my perspective, these Czars constitute “The Enemy Within” and make up the force for destruction of our Republic to which Khrushchev referred to during his “kitchen debate” with Richard Nixon.  Should you doubt my contention consider the following:

Richard Holbrook-Afghanistan Czar:  Anti-gun, pro-abortion and legal drug use advocate – supports dissolving 2nd Amendment.

Kenneth Feinberg – Pay Czar in the Gulf:  Former Chief of Staff to Ted Kennedy

Donald Berwick – Medicare Czar:  Claims love for the UK NHS and proponent of health care rationing

Mark Lloyd  – FCC Diversity Czar:  Senior Fellow at Center for American Progress, the far-left organization partially funded by George Soros.

Ed Montgomery – Auto Recovery Czar:  Black radical anti-business activist – Acorn Board Member – supports affirmative action and job preferences for minorities.  Communist DuBois Club Member.

Jeffrey Crowley – AIDS Czar:  Gay rights activist supports “a special status” for homosexuals only, including free health care for gays.

Alan Bersin – Border Czar:  Served as Border Czar under Janet Reno – advocates open borders to illegals without interference from the U.S.

David J. Hayes-California Water Czar:  Sr. Fellow of “Progress Policy” a radical environmental group – has no experience in water management.

Ron Bloom – Car Czar:  Anti-business and anti-nuclear – union autoworker – sits on the Board of Chrysler which is now union-owned thanks to Obama’s industry takeover.

Dennis Ross – Central Region Czar:  Anti-gun – pro-abortion – believes U. S. policy is responsible for Mideast unrest and wars.

Lynn Rosenthal – Domestic Violence Czar:  Vicious anti-male feminist.  Supports male castration.

Gil Kerlikowske -Drug Czar:  Supports legalization of all drugs – believes no American should own a gun.

Paul Volcker – Economic Czar:  Member of anti-business “Progressive Policy” organization.  Behind the Obama economic disaster policy for the US economy.

Carol Browner-Energy and Environmental Czar:  Radical former head of the EPA.  Supports EPA regulation in lieu of Congressional legislation to impose Obama energy policy.

Joshua DuBois – Faith-based Czar:  Degree in Black Nationalism – anti-gun lobbyist – social justice advocate – no definition for what his function does.

Cameron Davis – Great Lakes Czar:  Former Acorn Board member – radical anti-business environmentalist.

Van Jones -Green Jobs Czar:  Black activist member of American Communist and San Francisco communist party (since resigned).

Daniel Fried-Gitmo Closure Czar:  Human rights activist for foreign terrorists.  Believes terrorists have rights above and beyond Americans.

Nancy Ann DeParle – Health Czar:  Former head for Medicare/Medicaid – health care rationing advocate.

Vivek Kundra – Information Czar:  Controls all public information, including labels and news releases – proponent of monitoring all private internet communications.

Todd Stern- – International Climate Czar:  Anti-business supporter of Kyoto Accord – pushing for Cap and Trade legislation.

Dennis Blair – Intelligence Czar:  Chair of ultra liberal “Council on Foreign Relations” which blames America for regional wars.

George Mitchell – Mideast Peace Czar:  Former senator from Maine – advocates dividing Israel to appease Palestinians – anti-nuclear – anti-gun – pro-homosexual – special rights advocate.

Cass Sunstein – Regulatory Czar:  Liberal activist Judge believes free speech needs to be limited for the “common good” – anti-1st and 2nd Amendments of our Constitution.

John Holdren – Science Czar:  Ideological environmentalist – anti-business – no training in science.

Earl Devaney – Stimulus Accountability Czar:  Proponent of open borders to Mexico – blames U.S. gun manufacturers for drug war in Mexico.

J. Scott Gration – Sudan Czar:  Native of the Democratic Republic of Congo – proponent of higher U.S. taxes to support the United Nations.

Herb Allison – TARP Czar:  Fannie Mae CEO – active participant in creating real estate mortgage bubble and subsequent U.S. recession and loss of life savings for millions for Americans.

John Brennan – Terrorism Czar:  Anti CIA activist – advocate for open borders and entering dialogue with terrorists.

Aneesh Chopra – Technology Czar:  No technology training – supports health care rationing and salaried doctors working exclusively for the Government Health Care Plan.

Adolfo Carrion, Jr. – Urban Affairs Czar:  Puerto Rican-born anti-American activist and leftist group member in Latin America.  Advocates higher taxes on the middle class to pay for minority housing and health care.

Ashton Carter – Weapons Czar:  Wants all private weapons in the U.S. destroyed — supports UN ban on firearms ownership in America.

Gary Samore – WMD Policy Czar:  Former U.S. communist  – wants us to destroy all WMDs unilaterally as a show of good faith to the world.

Now you have been introduced to 33, and counting, of the Obama Czars, all the President’s men that operate within our Government without any Congressional oversight whatsoever.  Where do we find authority for these people in our Constitution?

They and their functions affect every aspect of American life and Government.  They in every instance duplicate functions and usurp authority reserved for the Cabinet Secretaries within the Executive Branch of Government.

Could it be they constitute the “enemy within” that will carry out Nikita Khrushchev’s prediction of destroying our Republic from within?

Obama’s agenda, if allowed to proceed, will in fact, fundamentally change America – change it into something nightmares are made of.

Following the mid-term Congressional elections of 2010, we must insist Congress challenge the legality and constitutionality of each and every Czar and return their purported activity to the appropriate function within Government.  No President can be allowed to create his own personal shadow government with the power to mitigate the rule of law and the Constitution of the United States of America.

There’s Something Rotten in Washington

by Richard H. Frank

Nancy Pelosi’s pledge upon assuming the position of “Speaker of the House of Representatives” was to “drain the swamp” and to preside over the most reputable Congress in history.  That  statement was issued over 2-1/2 years ago.  Two years ago, corruption and ethics charges were lodged against New York Representative Charlie Rangel and are now finally being brought before the House of Representatives for trial.

Had Mr. Rangel been a member of the minority party, it seems highly unlikely that it would have taken the Ethics Committee two years to reach a finding for violation of the “House Ethics Rules.”  Moreover, the clamor for the accused Congressman to resign would have been deafening.  Politics and political ideology reigns supreme over the law in Washington today.  This is true in both parties and stands in evidence of the Founding Fathers warnings against career politicians being elected to office.

Washington today is populated by career bureaucrats and the Congress is comprised of career politicians and lawyers that consider themselves as members of an elite aristocracy far removed from the very citizens that elected them to office.

So how can the corruption and the stench of ethics violations in Washington be cured?  I would refer you to Noah Webster’s quote from the 1823 History of America book in which he stated:

“When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for public officers, let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers, “just men who will rule in the fear of God.” The preservation of [our] government depends on the faithful discharge of this Duty; if the citizens neglect their Duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted; laws will be made, not for the public good so much as for selfish or local purposes; corrupt or incompetent men will be appointed to execute the Laws; the public revenues will be squandered on unworthy men; and the rights of the citizen will be violated or disregarded. If [our] government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the Divine Commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the Laws.”

These words are as relevent today as they were when written in 1823.  Every American should keep them in mind as we prepare for the 2010 mid-term elections in November.

To quote Madison:  “If men were angels, no Government would be  necessary.  If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on Government would be necessary.”

Unfortunately we are governed by men and not angels.  With Government comes power, and power often tends to corrupt.  Absolute power corrupts absolutely and “We the People” must remain ever vigilant of this fact.  Therefore, regardless of your political party or affiliation, keep the values and principles of our Founding Fathers in mind as you prepare to exercise your “right to vote” and elect worthy representatives in the coming election.

I urge each of you to “Remember in November” and vote to rid Washington of the decay and rot that is eating away at the foundation of our Republic.

Transparency on Display

by Jayne D. Frank

As President Obama’s favorable ratings by the American people plummet and the approval ratings for Congress are at an all time low of 11%, I read in the UK Telegraph that he is going to “vacation” again on the August 14th weekend with his family in the Gulf Coast region devastated by the oil spill disaster.  His motives could not be more “transparent” to Americans!  Trying to assuage criticism that he has not been hands-on in this disaster since Day One, he thinks that if he takes another “vacation” in this region, he will fend off further criticism and save the day for himself and the Democrats in the mid-terms.  We are not that stupid Mr. President!

First, President Obama has been away from the nation’s critical business of trying to save our economy and jobs for far too long, taking more vacations in two years than many Americans will have in a couple of decades, because they don’t have jobs or their businesses are closing!  Secondly, his love of the photo op in lieu of being our Commander-in-Chief is quite stunning.  That is all the announced August 14 trip will be.  The President will put his arms around the fisherman telling him that things are “going to be alright and that he can soon go back to work.”  He will eat a shrimp dinner at a local tavern, informing the whole world that “Gulf seafood is plentiful and is healthy to eat now.”  Mr. Obama will find a beach area that his staff has cleared of any oil balls or that never had any in the first place, and then announce that the beaches are clean.

President Obama wanted transparency in his Administration, and American citizens are quite aware of all the games and that every action he takes now is quite transparent as to his intended actions.  Oh by the way, would Mr. Obama be staying  in an ordinary hotel in Louisiana overlooking the Gulf, watching ordinary Americans clean up and watch Bobby Jindal with his shirt sleeves up working alongside the cleanup crews in the Gulf, or will he be in some palatial estate rented from a Democratic sympathizer which is tucked back and quite out of the way of distressing reminders of what Americans expect out of him?

Uninspiring Language From the “New General Motors”

by Richard H. Frank

The time lag in finalizing and publishing the quarterly report for the “New General Motors” is somewhat frustrating for those of us interested in monitoring the financial progress of this ailing automotive giant.  As I have written in the past, my hope is that this once proud and profitable corporation returns to its position as a leader in our free market enterprise system.  However, I fear the sporadic reports of their profitability seem all premature.

On July 7, 2010, General Motors issued a Press Release, part of which I quote, “…expected, anticipated, possible, potential, target, believe, commit, intend, continue, may, would, could, should, project, projected, positioned'”  are all “words intended to identify forward-looking statements that represent our current judgment about possible future events.” Each and every term above is a modifier and intended to provide an excuse for not meeting some reasonable expectation for performance.

After a career spanning 48 years in the automotive industry, both domestic and internationally, my experience is that any management team using the aforementioned language to forecast future performance would have been fired on the spot.  These terms remind me more of the political rhetoric and doublespeak we hear coming out of Washington, D.C.  Where are the definitive statements based on market share, product innovation and productivity from which reasonable forecasts with some foundation in fact may be generated?

If the management in charge of the “New General Motors” has adopted methodology used by the CBO and Washington bureaucrats, I fear for the long-term survival of the corporation.  My assumptions, however, are based on solid business models for profitability and sustained growth.  If, however, the corporation follows the VW model in Germany, the taxpayer will assure its ultimate survival through unending infusion of cash.

Therefore, I await the latest quarter’s report on profitability in hopes that I may set my fears aside for this once great corporation and hope for the day it may return to being a publically traded entity with the total exit of all and any Government equity.

I pray that my fears are unfounded.

A Mother’s View of Obama’s Blame Game

by Jayne D. Frank

Today we received news about the housing starts being at almost a post-World War II low and indications as well that the Troubled Asset Relief Program has been anemic although billions of dollars have been poured into the program.  America’s economy continues to spiral downward because of the Obama Administration’s failure to rejuvenate the private sector, which in turn provides jobs to some 17 million unemployed and provides an upturn in housing purchases; how could the results be anything but bad for the country!   President Obama  could step up and be a Leader, demand that President Bush’s tax cuts be extended, invigorate private business and entrepreneurship by providing incentives for more hiring.  But what does he do?

He continues to Blame Bush for his failure and that of his Administration to provide real jobs, for all the spending that his Administration and his Democrat Congress are approving and for the massive deficit and debt. And to make matters worse, he has brought out his pre-President “campaign groupies” to expound on his theme of “creating or saving 4 million jobs,” investing in business and giving tax breaks to 95% of Americans, none of which is true.

Barack Obama must remind every woman in America  who has raised children how inexperienced and juvenile his actions have been over the past couple of years.  As a child does, he blames every one else and does not take responsibility for his own actions.  A child sometimes does not learn from mistakes and often repeats them again and again until he has been disciplined for failing to abide by the rules.  Children have a hard time keeping money in their pocket and spend every dime they have.  Some children do not respect authority and feel they are “entitled” to do what they want.  Sound familiar?

Through example, self-discipline and that imposed by higher authorities, children eventually straighten up and become mature. What happened in President Obama’s case?  Abandoned by both parents and struggling in his youth for his own identity,  his mind was brainwashed by very liberal professors in college and afterward he was snatched up by the Chicago Democrat machine and radicals like Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright.  No wonder he has no idea how to run a business or be a strong leader of the greatest country on earth!  If it were not so pathetic what he has done and is doing to our country, a mother would feel sorry for him….

Government by the Minority!

by Richard H. Frank

The 2010 midterm elections are rapidly approaching. Should voter turnout follow historic numbers we will once again be saddled with two more years of “Government by the Minority.” What I mean by this is that complacent America will once again stay home on November 2, 2010 and allow somewhere between 17-20% of the electorate to decide the makeup of Congress for the next two years.

Therefore, approximately 1 in 5 eligible voters will make the decision for the rest of the nation’s voters. Remember, we get what we deserve when it comes to election participation in America. It is unfortunate that most Americans lack the responsibility and the spirit to vote as opposed to those in Iraq who have shown courage in exercise of their fragile yet sacred right to vote.

It has become too difficult for 80% of the electorate to get involved with the issues facing our country and the threat to our very liberty. Yet, these same individuals will be the first to complain about Government intrusion into their lives and legislation against the will of the people. How sad when the American voter abdicates his/her duty to participate in self-government, a right guaranteed to every citizen by our Constitution.

Voter apathy has resulted in the radical fringe elements of both political parties becoming the force to set the agenda in Washington. Government with the consent of the governed is no longer the norm in America. In order to return to Government by the Majority, every eligible American citizen must have his/her voice heard by participating in the 2010 midterm elections. Should we choose not to participate, we have no right to complain and deserve to be subject to “Government by the Minority.”

“Lead, Follow or Get the Hell Out of the Way!”

by Richard H. Frank

The old saying that “a camel is a horse designed by committee” is readily applicable to the Obama Administration’s handling of the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico.

Just who is in charge of stopping the leak? – BP or the Government?  “Daddy, have you stopped the leak yet?” can only be answered by our President saying “No, we must wait for the EPA, Homeland Security, the oil regulative committee, the Department of Natural Resources and the tooth fairy to analyze the situation.”  BP, vilified by our President for not stopping the leak or having a viable plan, is ready to curtail or stop the leak but is being stopped from proceeding by the onerous Federal bureaucracy.  God forbid that our Country should ever experience another more serious natural disaster (i.e., major earthquake or volcanic eruption) or a biological or nuclear attack on a populated city by terrorists.  The people involved in these potential crises would suffer more from the inaction and inability of Obama to make a decision than from the disaster itself.

What we are witnessing in the Obama Administration is a total lack of leadership and red tape destined to increase misery on our citizens.  This is what we get when we elect people who possess no real practical experience in management and decision-making without consulting a vast resource of equally inept Academians.  The oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico is indeed a serious disaster. Yet we see our Government 85+ days in this event not accelerating obvious methods to contain, stop and clean up this mess.  In effect, they have added insult to injury for the Gulf states residents by placing a ban on fishing over a major portion of the Gulf and imposing a moratorium on oil production.  Even after having the moratorium overturned by two Federal courts, the arrogant Obama Administration thumbs its nose at the law and imposes further restrictions on oil production.

This Administration and the President spout off insisting the oil leak in the Gulf is their Number #1 priority.  Number1 along with job creation, immigration reform, implementation of the health care legislation, and cap and trade.  They insist they have “saved or created” 3.5 million jobs.  These numbers fly in the face of the actual 2.5 million jobs lost since Obama took the oath of office in January, 2009.  I guess if the facts don’t support your agenda, just change the facts.

I suggest we should reinstate the “misery index” used in the 1970’s to measure the Carter Adminerstration Policy impact on America.  I contend Obama’s policies would make Carter look good in comparison.  Enough is  enough.  Contact your Congressional representatives and insist this Administration either “lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way” and allow the states to take charge of the oil spill and cleanup in the Gulf of Mexico.
