Witnessing the Destruction of America

by Richard H. Frank

The Obama Administration in concert with the 111th Congress has damaged the fabric of this nation more than any Government in recent history.  Their initiatives to “fundamentally change America” have taken form in Government takeover of financial institutions, the automotive Industry and most recently the health care industry controlling 1/6th of our economy.  Many of their actions  have been viewed as being unconstitutional and are currently being challenged in the Federal Court system.  Hopefully, the courts will “stay” further implementation of the “Affordable Health Care” legislation while the lawsuits proceed through the courts.

Now the Administration, in the name of political correctness, has announced the finalization of a new START Treaty with Russia. President Obama will travel to Prague to sign the Treaty this week.  Our Constitution requires the Federal Government to “provide for the common defense” of the nation.  The document also grants the President the power “by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two-thirds of the Senators present concur.”

The Administration’s spokesmen are presently touting all of the advantages to show the world the peaceful intent of the United States and non-aggressive nature of America in adopting this new Treaty.  They are quick to disregard any notion that the treaty may substantially weaken the defensive capability of the country.

The Reagan philosophy of “peace through strength” has kept America safe for decades and should not be discarded lightly.   The Senate must hold hearings on this Treaty and listen to the opinions of our Commanders in the field as well as the experts in the Pentagon.  Barack Obama has no experience or qualifications to make a judgment as to the consequences associated with this Treaty.  His views towards appeasement and non-confrontation of our enemies must be tempered and held in check by those more qualified than our neophyte Commander-in-Chief.

Treaties such as START are not to be entered into lightly as they affect the very freedom of our nation.  I fear we have lost sight of the wisdom of those patriots that have gone before and made the supreme sacrifice for America and the freedoms we enjoy today.  the legacy of those patriots is embodied in the words of an individual that commented on one of my previous blogs.  His name is Richard Card and I am pleased to share a portion of his thoughts regarding the voices of long-gone American patriots:

“Today, if you stand by Boston Harbor, The Old North Church or Concord Bridge… you can feel them.  If you look upon The Liberty Bell or stand in Independence Hall, …you can feel them.  If you are in Yorktown, Valley Forge or on the shores of the Delaware, … you can feel them.  If you visit Gettysburg or Andersonville, …you can feel them.  If you are in Bataan, Iwo Jima, Anzio or Normandy, ….you can feel them, their presence is growing stronger.  They are calling out to us.

They wear powdered wigs and three corner hats.  They are clad in Blue and Grey.  They wear khaki, olive drab and camouflage.  They are all calling out.  At first you can barely hear them, but they are calling.  Their voices grow louder and louder, becoming a thunder roar heard in every part of the land.  They are rising from their graves and calling out to all Americans.  Don’t let Freedom Die! Don’t let Freedom Die!  Those who gave their lives for this country are calling.  Rise up, Rise up they say.  Stand together.  Stand together.  Don’t let Freedom Die!  Save this country we gave our lives for… Don’t let Freedom Die!”

Members of the Senate take heed to the voices of those that have gone before us and assure that your vote is true to your oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America – So Help You God!
